Public Steam disclosure research25,380 disclosures tracked
Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
We use Generative AI as an assistive tool during the development process. Its primary uses are for code debugging, refactoring, and optimization, similar to a code assistant. We also use it as a creative sounding board to brainstorm and refine game design ideas.
No art, music, sound, or in-game text assets that are directly visible or audible to the player have been generated by AI. All final game assets are created by the developer.
Some concept art and early drafts were created with the help of AI tools. All final artwork in the game has been reviewed, refined, and completed by our art team.
AI has been used occasionally to assist with coding and, more rarely, for refining visual elements. However, the vast majority of the game has been developed without the use of AI.
During development, we mainly used it to generate and complete code. We also used it to improve work efficiency by proofreading some text and converting images to black and white for verification.
This game used AI-assisted tools during development (for code suggestions and some asset creation/editing). No AI-generated code or content is produced at runtime.
Some code of the game, namely the warp door system, some internal timers, enemy logic in Level 3-4, and setting and name displays, was written by me, fed through AI, and then manually edited. No graphics or music were Ai-generated.
I have used AI to pre-render content. I have used AI to make some of the code that I use in the game. Such that AI has helped me make the best possible CPU and help with player physics.
Parts of the game's code and design were created with the assistance of generative AI tools (ChatGPT) during development. No AI-generated content is created in real time during gameplay.
During the development process, in almost every aspect I use procedural and AI‑based tools to assist with content creation (e.g., generating code, auto‑filling code, making lunch receipts).
Some early UI and graphic base elements were prototyped with the assistance of AI tools. All assets used in the final game were reviewed, cleaned, and refined by human artists to ensure originality and quality.
I just made two paintings for the left wall of the hub world because I wanted to make something pretty myself but didn't have the artistic skills to draw it, although insignificant, I chose to check this box to avoid any problems.
This game was written and designed by humans. Generative AI was only used as a support tool, such as checking language, streamlining text, and optimizing visuals. All creative choices and content come from the developer.
We used AI tools (such as ChatGPT or Claude) to assist to a certain extent with C++ and Blueprint scripting during development. No AI-generated content is present in the final game assets. All visual, audio, and narrative content was created by the development team.
During the development of this game, AI tools were utilized to assist with some technical aspects, such as coding and problem-solving. The game itself, as experienced by players, does not contain any live AI or connect to external AI services.
This game utilizes AI technology for coding. This has led to a dramatic improvement in coding, which is a difficult task for the creators, leading to increased efficiency.
Artwork is created manually by the development team.
Clicked the AI tag because I used ChatGPT to help me generate code to have easier (for me) control over moving windows with the Bestiary plugin. I also used it to create the "drop % of party currency on escape" mechanic. That's all it's been used for, nothing else.
AI assisted development was used to enhance visual effects, polish animations, and streamline design workflow helping deliver a smoother, more visually dynamic experience for players. No gameplay decisions or in-game character behavior are controlled by AI.
Code: Generate basic functionality code, less than 1% of the total lines of code.
Images: Generate images for reference or initial drafts, less than 5% of the total image assets.
Text: Generate text for reference, initial drafts, or polishing, less than 5% of the total text volume.
The final game contains no directly AI-generated assets. All content was created and finalized by the developer. AI-assisted tools were used for early concept exploration.
All images and text in the game are created manually.
I’m making pixel art graphics by hand (in aseprite) and also purchasing assets made by professional pixel art artists.
The content of the game is manually written, imagined and developed.
AI is used for
- coding
- fixing & finding bugs
In some cases AI can be used to produce:
- marketing images (usually I use it as photoshop replacement)
- find grammar mistakes (proofreading)
I keep all AI made content is marked as AI-made with the name of the AI tool.
