Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
This game contains content created with the assistance of AI tools. AI was used during development to assist with programming, visual assets, and other creative elements. All generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the dev.
Generative AI was used to create some art assets (the title screen background and the store capsule images). The game does not use AI to generate any content at runtime.
The game's art assets (tile, monster and item sprite atlases) were produced during development using OpenAI's image generation service. We then processed the output ourselves into transparent PNGs and assembled them into atlases, which ship as static assets inside the build. The game does not call any AI service at runtime and contains no live-generated content. Every generated image was manually reviewed and corrected before being added to the atlas. Apart from the art, the code, game design, balance and text involve no AI-generated content.
Generative AI was used during development to help create some visual and audio assets, dialogue, and translations. This content was selected and edited during development and incorporated into the game. No content is generated by AI in real time during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with programming and some written/game content. All generated material was reviewed and integrated by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.
Black Banner Company is made by one person.
What is mine: the design, the rules, the balance, the world, and every decision of tone. Nothing ships that I have not read, corrected or rewritten.
What is AI-assisted:
— the illustrations and part of the interface art;
— the entire English translation;
No AI runs while you play. All content is fixed at build time. No data is sent anywhere.
The English may read awkwardly in places. Tell me where and I'll fix it.
If these tools are a problem for you, I would rather you knew before buying than after.
Generative AI was used to assist in creating some of the 2D artwork used for this game's store page and marketing assets (store capsule art and icon bases). All such assets were reviewed, edited and composited by the developer. The game itself does not generate content with AI at runtime.
Generative AI was used to assist in the development of this game. Approximately 60% of the code was generated or written with the assistance of AI; in-game imagery was created using generative AI, with a portion of the assets refined and post-processed manually; music was created using generative AI; and approximately 90% of the sound effects were generated or created with AI assistance. Except for Traditional Chinese, localization for all other languages was translated using AI.
Twisted Survivors was designed and made by Six. Some of its art (including the store artwork), music, voice-over and the opening cinematic were created with the help of AI tools, then curated and edited by Six; nothing is generated while you play.
Generative AI was used during development to create 3D models, music, sound effects, and promotional artwork, and to assist with localization, store-page text, and the implementation of game logic and code. This content and code are prepared during development. The game does not generate content or code using AI or connect to external AI services during gameplay.
Some artwork and marketing assets for Fallen Crowns were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All AI-assisted assets were reviewed and edited by the developer before inclusion. The game does not use AI to generate content live during gameplay.
Some visual content, including parts of the backgrounds and selected graphics, was created with the assistance of generative AI and subsequently edited for the game. These elements serve as temporary placeholders during development and are intended to be replaced with custom artwork once a suitable artist joins the team.
A Light in the Gloam uses pre-generated AI content. Nothing is generated while the game is running, and the game makes no network calls of any kind.
Visual art: all in-game art was generated with OpenAI's image model (gpt-image-1) from prompts written by hand, then processed by our own scripts, which downscale it, quantise it to a fixed palette and trim it before it is placed in the game. This covers 14 character portraits, 43 enemy and boss sprites, 63 item icons, 27 wall, floor and ceiling textures, 10 dungeon props, 21 achievement emblems, and 14 town and title backdrops. The store capsules and the client icons are crops of the title-screen generation rather than new images.
Music and sound: all 14 music tracks were generated with ElevenLabs' music model and all 47 sound effects with ElevenLabs' sound-effects model, both from written prompts and both post-processed by our own scripts for level and length. There is no voice acting and no synthesised speech anywhere in the game.
Writing and translation: the game's text, meaning item and monster descriptions, dialogue, menus and the story, was written with the assistance of a large language model and then edited by hand. The Brazilian Portuguese translation was produced the same way and reviewed against the English.
Generative AI has been used to help work with coding.
All Assets (art, models, animations, sprites/textures, sounds and music have been made by myself or have been bought)
Some of the visual assets in Twin Compass, including enemy and character illustrations, background art, and UI decoration, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, then selected, edited, composited, and hand-tuned by the developer for use in the game. All game design, code, writing, systems, and final asset integration are human-authored. No AI is used at runtime, the game generates nothing on the player's machine and makes no external requests during play.
We combined hands-on development with AI tools to help speed up our workflow, including work on artwork, music, text, and translations. Our team designed and built the game, guided its creative direction, and edited and refined the visuals to match TIP or RIP’s cartoon style.
Some promotional artwork on this store page was created using generative AI tools. All in-game assets (characters, environments, effects) are original or licensed third-party content.
The illustrated character portraits used as player avatars (also shown in our store and library artwork) were created with AI image generation (Google Gemini) and then cropped and adjusted by the developer. Some store text and interface translations were drafted with AI assistance. The game does not generate any AI content while you play.
Some of the game's artwork, including characters, monsters, items and backgrounds, was created with the help of generative AI tools and then edited and refined by our team; none of it is used as raw AI output. Parts of the in-game text and translations were also produced with AI assistance. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Most of the game's visual art and sound was pre-generated with AI tools and then selected, edited and placed by the developer: the dungeon panoramas, room props, floors, town and building plates, character portraits, walk and combat sprite sheets, monster, boss and villager sprites, item, skill and stack icons, combat and reward effects, and the store page art were generated with the FLUX.1 image model through fal.ai and animated with AutoSprite; the sound effects, ambience beds, voice barks and music were generated with ElevenLabs. Every generated file, the tool that made it and the prompt that asked for it are recorded in the game's files (assets/README.md and assets/PROMPTS.md). All game text, design, rules and code are written by people. Nothing is generated while you play: the game contains no live AI generation and calls no AI service at runtime.
DEADLUCK V was created using generative AI, including its artwork, music, sound effects and written content. This content was generated during development. The game does not generate AI content or connect to AI services during gameplay.
Generative AI was used during development to create pre-generated visual assets for the game, including character artwork, card artwork, backgrounds, visual effects, textures, UI artwork, and promotional materials.
All AI-generated content is reviewed and curated by the developer before being included in the game.
The game does not use live generative AI during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation of certain pre-generated visual and 3D art assets used in the game. AI-assisted content is reviewed, selected, edited, and integrated by the developer. Hollowfall does not generate AI content during gameplay.
Pre-generated AI content includes equipment illustrations, skill icons, clothing surface textures, short English character-selection voice lines, and Steam capsule and library artwork. AI tools also assisted with store-page text and translations. The game does not generate AI content or connect to AI services during gameplay.
Some icons and character sprites were created with the assistance of generative AI, then edited and refined by hand. The remaining artwork consists of pre-made assets and hand-drawn work.
Generative AI was used as a supporting tool for selected elements of the artwork. Most elements were extensively modified and adapted through substantial hands-on work, including repainting, rigging, and animation.
Some promotional artwork for this game (such as the store capsule image)
was created with the help of generative AI tools and then edited by hand.
All in-game content — 3D models, animations, sound effects, interface and
code — was created without generative AI. The game does not use AI during
gameplay and does not connect to any external AI service.
The tower and building art began as 3D models made with AI tools and inside Blender. I edited many of them by hand, then turned them into pixel art with our own pipeline. The characters are drawn by hand in Aseprite. Some in-game text and the translations were written with AI assistance.
Spirestorm uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork for characters, enemies, environments, interface illustrations, and promotional images. These assets were selected, edited, animated, and integrated during development. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Generative AI was used for pre-generated artwork, including character portraits, key art, cards, Jokers and decorative interface artwork, and assisted portions of game text and localization. Assets are selected and integrated during development. No AI content is generated during gameplay, and the game does not connect to external AI services.
Some of the artwork in this game was created with the assistance of generative AI tools. This includes character and enemy models, visual effects, skill icons, and key art. All generated material was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer. No AI-generated content is produced while the game is running.
Generative AI was used to create and refine the game's store capsule art and logo. No other in-game assets were generated with generative AI, and to the best of my knowledge, the same is true of third-party assets. Separately, a model trained with reinforcement learning controls enemy behavior. It does not generate content.
The game's pixel art sprites and visual effects, the store capsule art and logo, and the music were created with the help of generative AI tools, then selected, edited and integrated by the developer. The store page text and its Chinese translation were drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. All content is pre-generated; nothing is generated while the game is running.
Spellsanity is made by one person and uses generative AI as a tool, not as a substitute for design.
Art: Much of the pixel art (enemies, bosses, characters, portraits, story stills, environment details) was produced with AI image generators and then reworked by hand: reduced to the game's colour palette, corrected pixel by pixel, animated and fitted into the game. Some of the art (surfaces, effects, UI frames) was drawn without AI or generated procedurally.
Text: Dialogue, descriptions and help texts were written with AI assistance and revised by the developer. The translations from English (German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese) were produced with AI and spot-checked; please report mistakes.
Code: AI assistants were used during programming.
Music and sound are not AI: the music is licensed work by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), the sound effects are synthesized.
No AI runs inside the game. All content is shipped with the game and was reviewed before release; nothing is generated at runtime.
Generative AI tools were used throughout development: the game's code and its in-game text, the paintings, icons and interface art, the 3D models, and the music and sound effects. Everything was reviewed, edited and tested, and ships as fixed content. Nothing is generated while you play: the game runs no model and makes no network call.
