Public Steam disclosure research 25,497 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.

We just used AI to help with the Steam capsule and some marketing assets
Only the music in the teaser video is AI-generated.
This game uses generative AI tools in a limited capacity during development. A small number of environmental textures were created with AI assistance. The majority of in-game assets are licensed assets (e.g., Craftpix) or custom-developed by the creator. All gameplay systems, mechanics, level design, and core development were created by the developer. AI-generated content does not affect gameplay functionality and is used only as a supplemental production tool.
This game uses generative AI to assist with parts of the asset creation process, including store/promotional images, background music assets, initial drafts/variations of the game logo, and the generation or AI-assisted creation of some in-game material textures. All such content is reviewed, curated, edited, and integrated by the developer before being used in the game.
Promotional artwork and screenshots on the store page were created with AI image generation tools. The game itself is handcrafted and does not use AI-generated content.
AI-generated art objects
Some static visual assets in this game were created with the assistance of AI tools during development. All AI-assisted assets have been reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer to fit the game's art style. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay.
"Music and in-game text translations (12 non-English languages) were created with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer."
The game to contain art assets generated by artificial intelligence
Chat-GPT
As a solo developer, I used AI generation tools to assist in creating a few 2D sprites
AI Assisted graphics and music included.
I used generative AI tools to assist in the creation of some environmental textures and background concept art. These assets were then manually edited and refined by our team to fit the game's final art style
Game uses AI for assets such as characters, music, and sound bytes.
This game has AI generated Images for Store Page Library and In game Movies Characters are AI Generated, thank you for your support
Music used in the game is generated by AI. Writing code of the game was supported by AI.
Some assets used during development were created with the assistance of AI tools, including background music, background images, character illustration support, and programming assistance. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and integrated into the game by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not use generative AI systems at runtime. Original assets such as UI elements and pixel characters were created directly by the developer.
Many of the assets and code in the game were created with the help of artificial intelligence. Since we don't have an artist, 95% of the visuals were created by AI.
Some visual assets used in this game were generated with the assistance of AI tools.
The following are AI generated content: Main menu background image
AI Suno Music (Original tracklist by me) AI used as help, to coding some features in Unity
Some graphics (mainly background pictures) were created with help of AI.
Some store page artwork and localization/translations were created with the assistance of AI tools. All core game content, including gameplay code, character artwork, and audio, was created without generative AI.
Generative AI was trained on an original pixel art style and used to create the bases for props, which were then manually edited into their final forms.
Generative AI was used during the localization process to assist with translation and text refinement.
Used ai to improve graphics in store and in the game.
Some of the promotional and storefront images were created with AI tools and then refined by hand. All of the in-game assets were designed by a 3D artist.
AI tools were used to generate early concept artwork and UI references during development. Final in-game assets were created, refined, and implemented by the developer. The game does not include any live-generated AI content.
Game contains AI graphics
ASCII-RIFT was developed using generative AI tools as part of the creative process. Music tracks were created using Suno and curated by the developer. Programming and system design were developed with AI-assisted tools under the developer’s direction. No live AI-generated content is used during gameplay.
Some music, portions of the trailer, and select store page images were created with the assistance of AI generation tools.
Some of the graphical elements contain AI-generated imagery
Generative AI was used to create descriptions and weapon icons
Generative AI has only been used to create placeholder background music tracks, as a type of "elevator music", while I learn more about sound design and music producing. No AI has been used anywhere else, in art or development. Everything else has been done by one individual, and the hope is to have all the AI generated soundtracks replaced before launch. Sorry for any AI hate, and thanks for the understanding.
Development uses AI tools as coding assistants to optimize scripts and refactor systems. Some UI icons and graphic elements may have been generated or iterated with AI assistance, but all were manually reviewed and edited to ensure final quality.
AI was used in the creation of some assets.
The store page capsule image (cover art) was generated using AI.
Generative AI is used only for 2D marketing assets, icons and loading screens.
Some visual elements of the game, including certain artwork and UI assets, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development. All AI-generated assets were curated, edited, and integrated by the developer to ensure visual consistency and artistic direction. The game does not use live AI generation during gameplay.
AI tools were used only to generate background images and music for the title/menu screen.
Some of the music tracks included have been created using Suno to avoid copyright infringement for players looking to share video content of the game.
AI generative models were used to create localization files to support languages that would otherwise be difficult for a solo developer. Placeholder AI-generated assets have been created for the Steam store splash images, with the intent of commissioning an artist if this gains community support. All in-game assets (sprites, music, sound effects, UI elements, and interactive content) were created by humans and are credited in the game credits. CPU opponents use traditional game AI algorithms, not generative AI models. This is the third iteration of development, that was originally developed in 2019 with HTML + JS, then rebuilt in Unity, and then transferred to LOVE2D written in Lua. It was more-or-less built with a box of scraps in a cave in its first iterations, and modern software since those days have effectively blurred the line where task automation meets unethical AI consumption. It's up to each of us to determine where that line is for ourselves in a rapidly changing digital age. As both a solo game dev and multimedia artist carrying a full-time job in neither of those fields, I feel that it's important to be educating ourselves on where AI can be a useful tool to allow new opportunities and expand capabilities for independent creators that are otherwise untenable, while keeping the human side of game dev at its core, especially in the indie genre.
Only used strictly as a foundational tool to assist in creating base concepts for certain 2D sprites and background textures. Every AI-assisted asset was heavily modified, color-corrected, and manually integrated to fit the retro aesthetic.
A limited number of background images and sprites were created with generative AI. Most assets and all gameplay were created manually, the other rest is self-created or from the Unity Asset Store.
Some artworks and voiceovers were created with AI assistance and enchanced per me. As a solo developer, this helps me save time so I can focus more on fun gameplay quality, balance, and polishing.
COALCOM was built by a solo developer with 20+ years in the power industry. Generative AI was used to write and iterate on game code — it's what made finishing a +10-year project idea finally possible. Some written content, including store page copy and the game manual, was drafted with AI assistance and refined by the developer. The game design, mechanics, domain expertise, and voice are entirely human. The visual assets were not AI-generated.
To ensure the best quality for Velocide Overdrive, generative AI was used as a supportive tool in the development process: - Visual Assets: A very small number of icons and static images were initially generated using AI, then manually retouched and integrated. The vast majority of the game's visuals are procedurally generated via code or created manually. - Audio: The soundtrack and effects are a blend of human creation and AI-assisted composition. Some AI-generated audio elements have been manually modified, mixed, and finalized by the developer to ensure they perfectly match the gameplay experience. - Code & Testing: AI tools were utilized to assist with coding logic, debugging, and optimization to ensure game stability. All AI-assisted content in this game is pre-rendered and has been reviewed by the developer.
Our team uses generative AI to develop some in-game 2D assets.
