Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some visual assets used in the game, such as posters and certain 3D models, were created or assisted using generative AI tools.
All AI-assisted content is static, pre-generated, and no AI is used to generate live gameplay, player decisions, or dynamic content at runtime.
We use AI selectively to generate pre-rendered backgrounds for our games, as well as supporting assets for store page, marketing materials and game assets, while ensuring all content is polished to maintain a consistent artistic style.
Generative AI tools were used during development in a supportive role. This includes assistance with grammar checks and text refinement, as well as helping translate original German game content into clear and natural English.
In addition, AI assisted image generation was used as a basis for selected HUD elements and inventory item visuals, as well as for a small number of in game visual assets. AI assisted tools were used during the creation of the game’s background music. All AI generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated manually to ensure consistency with the game’s art style and overall presentation.
Some visual and marketing materials for Regret To Inform were assisted by generative AI tools. All generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer to ensure consistency with the game's artistic direction and quality standards.
I used BEZI and AI to help write scripts because im literally only one person and it would take 15 years and potentially cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to create this if i didnt have AI assistants.
AI is used to generate the voices and advice of two opposing royal advisers (Left and Right Councillor). Each turn they comment on the situation and recommend different actions. If the player’s decree aligns more closely with one adviser’s stance, that adviser’s credibility increases while the other’s decreases.
As the credibility gap grows, public trust is affected, reflecting rising factional tension. If an adviser’s credibility reaches zero, they resign—sometimes angrily—warning the player not to dismiss their counsel. The vacant seat is then filled by a successor adviser, represented by a different local LLM model. This creates shifting personalities and advice styles across runs.
AI does not determine the game’s outcomes. Core consequences and metric changes are resolved by the game’s rule system; AI provides narrative and guidance within that system.
All illustrations in the game are 100% AI-generated. All assets are pre-rendered and fixed, meaning no illustrations or scenarios are generated by AI in real-time during gameplay.
AI was used in the coding of this game. Some placeholder assets are AI, but rest assured we have excellent human artists working hard to replace every asset with hand-made human art by release!
This is my first game, and I used AI as a learning assistant throughout development — from understanding basic programming concepts to improving my workflow. Some visual assets were initially generated with AI and then refined by hand. I also used AI to brainstorm ideas and help navigate the process of bringing this game to Steam. All in-game content is fully controlled, reviewed, and finalized by me.
The game was programmed by the developer. AI was used as a code-reviewer and suggested changes were implemented within individual functions.
Some sound effects were AI generated. Others were legally sourced or recorded by the developer. All sound effects were edited by the developer.
To the best of my knowledge, no AI generated images exist in this game. Every animation in the game was made by the developer. Some of the background objects, tile sprites, and fire sprites were sourced from legally purchased asset packs and then modified by the developer.
Some illustrations (CGs) and promotional videos included in this game were created using AI image and video generation technology.
Important Note: AI was solely used to create pre-rendered artwork, and the game does not include any real-time content generation features during gameplay. This was done to enhance development efficiency and bolster visual quality.
If you could peek inside my code or topology, you would BEG me to use AI to fix it. BUT NO. This crap is handmade and stays that way! The soundtrack, however, is a hybrid: I used generative AI to create raw textures, which I then manually arranged and mixed.
How Does It Work? The Human-Led Creative Process
Players will start their game by participating in a time traveling Ritual.
AI doesn't write our story; it writes a story within a world which our creative team has designed. The Ritual takes what you describe and the world we’ve built – its art, biomes, enemy types, magic systems and overarching lore – and turns it into gameplay that’s personal to you.
These aren't AI suggestions; they are human-designed game mechanics and rules that AI must follow. During The Ritual, you describe your hero – their name, and how they look, plus curious nuggets about what they love, hate, are known for etc.
When you describe your hero as "a punk rocker who fears spiders and loves the color red," our platform triggers a process and system instructions that work hand-in-hand with Gemini AI. We send your input along with our own carefully crafted guidelines that tell Gemini exactly how to evaluate content appropriateness.
All storytelling is orchestrated by logic the engineering team designed, not AI deciding what happens next, alongside a story bible and character descriptions, creating assets, in real time, to craft your customized gaming experience.
All character visuals are generated using a custom AI model (LoRA) trained exclusively on our own artwork. It understands how we draw faces, hairstyles, armour, and bodies – the rules, proportions, and style choices behind the art – rather than copying individual images or creating its own.
This means when your character gets generated, it is not generic AI art; it is our artistic DNA interpreting your imagination. The result is a caricature of your hero, rendered in our visual language.
Similarly, character abilities aren't randomly generated; they follow strict mathematical systems. When Gemini generates a Unique Spell, for example, the damage, archetype, name, colours, and parameters, come from us.
While The Ritual could find anyone at all in the past, we’ve also implemented layers of safeguards to ensure only true heroes can be recruited to the war effort.
We use AI in early conceptual design, to figure out an appropriate background art. We then go through several iterations manually with artist modifications, to produce a good, highly polished background that gels well with our characters, story and intended art style.
Our characters are hand drawn by humans.
Our objects are hand drawn by humans.
All user interface (UI) elements are hand drawn by humans.
All animations are hand drawn and meticulously rigged (also by humans) using bone animation.
This game uses traditional, non-generative AI only for gameplay logic such as enemy navigation, combat behavior, and basic decision-making (for example taking cover, flanking, or reacting to player actions).
We do not use generative AI to create art, animation, audio, or text, and we do not use AI for biometric analysis, surveillance, or player profiling. No player data is used to train any AI systems.
Some 2D art assets were initially created with the assistance of AI tools and then manually edited and finalized by the developer.
No AI is used during gameplay or to generate content in real time.
"The game's visual and audio assets (art, sound, music, and primary narrative) do not contain generative AI content. The development process utilized standard algorithmic tools for code generation and debugging assistance. Gameplay relies on basic procedural and deterministic logic (e.g., enemy spawning, score calculation)."
Generative AI was used solely to assist with select background assets, exclusively through Adobe Firefly, a rights-cleared tool.
No AI content is generated in real time during gameplay.
Much of the enemy graphics were made with the help of generative AI. However, none of them are simply used "as is." Getting the artwork to match Hong Kong 97's SNES graphics requires downscaling resolution and adjusting contrast, saturation etc.
We are using Generative AI for our Main Capsule, Header Capsule, and Small Capsule, which are displayed across the Steam Store. In-game, a voice-changing AI tool is used to generate custom voices for voice acting.
AI tools were used in a limited, supporting role during development to assist with certain technical and creative tasks. The vast majority of the game including gameplay design, environments, story, music, and presentation is created directly by human developers. AI-generated content is not central to the experience and is used only as part of the normal development workflow.
"Some of the game’s pre-rendered assets, including anime-style images, were created using generative AI tools. Additionally, certain dialogues and store page descriptions were assisted by AI. No content is generated live during gameplay; all AI-assisted content is fixed and fully reviewed to ensure it meets appropriate content standards. Players will not encounter dynamic AI-generated content while playing the game."
I used Elevenlabs AI Voice Robots to do all the voicework in the game.
A few store page images have been created with ComfyUI.
Achievements images have been created with with ComfyUI.
Use AI-generated images and convert them into paintings to use as concept art for the main menu and in-game simulated advertising images.
Use AI to create images for in-game currency.
Use ChatGPT to create lyrics for the theme song.
