Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
During the production process, we used AI to create a small portion of the interface content
Generative AI Usage Disclosure This game features content created with the assistance of AI technology. From programming and scriptwriting to music, textures, and artwork—including the protagonist and item icons—AI has played a role in the creative process. Our Commitment: All AI-generated content has been strictly screened, reworked, and manually refined; it is not a direct output. By leveraging AI, I am able to focus my efforts on polishing the atmosphere and optimizing details, ensuring high quality while shortening the development cycle to bring this work to players sooner.
In the development process of this game "What the dog doing?", generative AI tools are used to assist in creating some meme-related visual materials (including some boss character images and scene decoration elements). All AI-generated content has been manually reviewed, modified and optimized by the developers to ensure compliance, no inappropriate information and copyright issues. It does not involve real-time generated content, does not connect to external AI services, and does not affect the core gameplay and experience of the game.
We want to be transparent about our use of AI: AI is used for: assisting with code development (debugging, refactoring, technical guidance during programming sessions). AI is NOT used for: the story, the dialogue, the music, the illustrations, the character designs, or any creative content. A Piano Tale is a deeply personal project, and its soul comes entirely from human hands.
Some backgrounds/jackets/movies use generative AI.
Claude code was used to generate code.
We generate music using AI. Store page art assets were created using AI.
Characters and videos generated by AI
The game to contain art assets generated by artificial intelligence
Some image assets are AI generated. This includes the game's logo and icon.
Music used in the game is generated by AI. Writing code of the game was supported by AI.
Creative content utilises AI generation. Images, videos, music, code
AI tools were used to generate in-game graphical elements, such as UI elements, static image assets, flame animations, and so on.
Some AI generated images and textures
Mithril & Mud uses AI-assisted development tools during the programming process. All game design, systems, and content decisions are made by the developer. No AI-generated content is presented to players during gameplay — all visuals and audio are created through procedural generation algorithms, not generative AI.
ASCII-RIFT was developed using generative AI tools as part of the creative process. Music tracks were created using Suno and curated by the developer. Programming and system design were developed with AI-assisted tools under the developer’s direction. No live AI-generated content is used during gameplay.
Some of the music tracks included have been created using Suno to avoid copyright infringement for players looking to share video content of the game.
Generative AI was used during the development process to assist in creating 2D visual assets, including the character art (the cyber cat) and promotional imagery. These assets were pre-generated and are included as static files within the application.
During the development, AI assistance may be used in creating content used in the game. All such content is rooted in the original art direction of the project, and shaped individually before reaching the final product.
During the development of this game, we utilized generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to assist in the creation of certain game art assets, narrative text, game content, programming, and localized translations. All AI-generated content has been manually reviewed, modified, and integrated by our development team to ensure it aligns with game design, meets quality standards, and maintains originality.
Uses AI for code completion
AI tools supported our character concept phase and helped speed up asset development.
⚠ Every piece that came out of AI went through manual refinement, adjustment, and polish by me – a human being. The final result is a fully conscious, cohesive vision shaped entirely by my own decisions. AI was never the creator – it only helped me prototype ideas and speed up certain workflows.
AI tools were used to assist in texture generation for some scene elements and UI assets (excluding character art and CGs). However, all initial concept designs and final assets are hand-drawn, manually retouched, or heavily overpainted by the developer to ensure artistic consistency and originality. No raw AI output is used directly in the game.

Some of graphic materials were created with the help of AI-based tools
Gen AI is used for Music and generating character & stage profiles.
This game uses Spotify's Basic Pitch, a machine learning model for audio-to-MIDI transcription. This technology assists in converting audio files into note data for gameplay purposes and is entirely optional—players can choose whether or not to use this feature. It does not generate music, artwork, or other creative content; all such elements are created by human artists and composers.
Some of the music were labelled as AI-generated by their original authors on Pixabay.
This game features music from a variety of genres where the lyrics describe the anatomy of the hand and the biomechanics of posture. These songs were performed with the help of generative AI, and the album art for these songs was also created with the help of generative AI.
AI was used to iterate different variations of concept art, textures, sprites and capsule art. The final versions always went through manual editing and adjustments. AI was also used to perform quick image processing edits and to generate boiler plate code.
Due to budget reasons, some of the music was generated with Suno AI, without reference to real artists.
As a solo indie developer, I use AI for multi-language localization. This helps me deliver a smoother, more accessible player experience while allowing me to focus more time on gameplay, systems, level design, and so on.
Several placeholder 2D art pieces are generated using Stable Diffusion. In the Early Access version these are marked with the word "Placeholder" in the bottom right corner of the image and will be replaced by artist drawings during the Early Access process.
Generating some of the children's drawings used in the game. Generating sound effects (SFX). Supporting localization, including the translation of in-game text into multiple languages. AI was not used for modeling or software development; the entire design process is original and created by the team.
This game includes an AI opponent for practice battles. The opponent is a non-generative, scripted system that adjusts answer speed and accuracy. Generative AI tools were used only to create some pre-rendered marketing/store artwork; no generative AI is used to generate gameplay content at runtime.
Ai was used in the marketing material production and some in game art.
AI is used to enhance the store page description(s).
Generative AI was used only to help create some included music tracks (via Suno). No AI was used for images or other visual assets.
We used AI tools to generate initial visual concepts and draft assets for characters and backgrounds. Afterward, all assets were heavily retouched, painted over, and finalized by our human artists to ensure quality and stylistic consistency. AI was used only as a starting point during the development process.
None of the music is AI generated. The Bard's Kingdom was built by a solo developer using AI as a creative partner. Artwork was generated with AI tools and hand-edited to fit the game's vision. Programming was done collaboratively with AI assistance, guided by over a decade of software development experience. The story, design, and heart of the game are entirely human.
The game's soundtrack includes tracks produced with the help of AI-based music generation tools.
all the pictures are generated by artificial intelligence.
We made some CGs using AI. AI cannot create content directly during the game.
Use of AI: 1. AI is used for creative concepts during the art design phase, while final production is completed manually. 2. AI is used for creative concepts in data naming. 3. AI is used for bulk generation of icon assets, followed by manual style unification and refinement. 4. AI is used to generate portions of the background music, which are then manually adjusted.
I use AI to help me code and convert recorded melodies into full songs and adjust the BPM.
AI used for: cover art elements.
AI is used to generate music, illustrations, character motions for some stages, and to translate in-game text.
To support more players around the world, some language translations on this page were assisted by AI tools. Certain lines may be imperfect, and we will continue improving them with your feedback.
This game was developed by a solo developer using AI-assisted tools to support parts of the creative and technical workflow, including marketing materials, store page assets, music, and portions of code. All AI-assisted outputs were reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer. No AI systems are used to generate content during gameplay.
