Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
All of the art used in Zero Division is commissioned from (human) artists. However, one of the artists uses generative AI tools in the production of the commissioned work.
This game uses AI images for cutscenes and monsters
The game itself is completely 100% free of AI-generated content. I only used AI to help myself with store page. Examples: grammar corrections or generating character poses for artworks (composition and character designs are still handcrafted)
AI was used to assist with game localization, and create certain user interface elements.
Borrowhelen uses AI only for generating and synthesizing character voices and for checking typos. All other content (graphics, music, levels, etc.) is 100% human-made.
UPDATE: over 90% of the AI-generated content was removed! Some of the 2D art and music in The Classrooms were originally created with the help of AI tools, not as a replacement for artists, but to get the uncanny, slightly "off" look of AI-generated content. This was intentional, as it reflects the kind of strange content the Superstructure itself would make. Our goal has always been to evoke that uneasy and almost-familiar feeling. To build on this while moving away from AI, we are now trying approaches like fan art contests to gradually replace this content, while still preserving this unique aesthetic. For video and music production, we plan to collaborate with real people, though budget and scheduling mean this will take time.
All voices for the announcer and the tutorial bot have been generated with AI
Some character illustrations, item images and sounds are generated by AI and processed and edited for use by the developer.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure for NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating From the very outset, "NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating" was conceived as a cosmic horror experiment in itself. Instead of passively wondering how generative AI might impact creative professions, we decided to confront that existential dread head-on. Our core design philosophy was to push the boundaries of AI's capabilities, attempting to completely replace human creative input and, in essence, make ourselves obsolete in the game development process. Our findings, however, have been profoundly ironic and surprisingly reassuring. While generative AI played a significant role in various aspects of the game's development (including concept generation, preliminary asset creation, dialogue outlines, and certain code snippets), we discovered that achieving a cohesive, engaging, and polished experience still required substantial human oversight and manual intervention. AI, in its current form, proved to be an invaluable tool for iteration and initial ideation, but it could not replicate the nuanced artistic direction, problem-solving, and quality assurance that only human creativity and discernment can provide. Ultimately, this experiment demonstrated that the path to creative obsolescence is far from straightforward. In a twist we didn't anticipate, the very act of attempting to replace ourselves with AI actually created new roles and opportunities for human collaborators in areas where AI fell short. This project, born from a fear of replacement, has, against all odds, generated more work for creative professionals rather than eliminating it. The human touch remains indispensable in bringing a truly unique and compelling vision to life.
Texture Upscaling.
We use AI to proof read and sometimes write or edit the Lore texts in our game
At the end of the game, each of the 20+ endings has an unique AI generated image.
The voices are generated using ElevenLabs and many of images are painted over and modified AI generations.
Translation, sentence proofreading
Some of the images used on decoration paintings in some of the levels are AI generated images
Both Generative AI and AI editing tools were used for some background and menu images, textures, and voices.
The background of the games Steam Shop main capsule image is AI generated. The game uses AI-generated voices for all characters where no voice actors are available yet. You can disable AI voices in the audio settings.
Our team uses AI tools to assist development of some in-game content. The final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.
I have troubles writing long descriptions so I used ChatGPT to help me write some of the descriptions and lore in the game. It was used as a reference, nothing more. I have used ONLY my own content and ONLY my own algorithm models to generate content from. I wrote my own to be able to use it for this purpose only. I do NOT infringe on ANY creative rights in doing so.
Generative AI was used to create six placeholder images and one piece of music used in the game. These assets are temporary and are intended to be replaced with non-AL-created assets.
AI was used to reduce time investment in illustration art. The AI art can be seen in various UI elements where illustrations are present. Please note, all of the AI art you see wasn't merely generated and thrown into the game, it obviously needed a fairly extensive degree of retouching.
We use AI-based tools to assist in the creation of specific static User Interface (UI) assets. This includes inventory icons, status effect indicators (such as hunger and panic alerts), and the background artwork for the 'Quit Game' confirmation screen. All AI-generated assets were manually reviewed, edited, and integrated to fit the game's overall aesthetic. The core game environments and character models are human-created
Some of the store page banners include AI-generated images. Intro and game-over videos include AI-generated elements.
AI is only used to augment and adjust real voice acting.
AI was used to generate some in-game images.
We use licensed artificial intelligence graphics software for some of the 2D images in the game.
AI-generated art objects
Generating inventory items icons using AI during prototyping stage for the game
Pre-generated voice cloning/Text-To-Speech where it makes sense creatively. Placeholders will be replaced by real voice acting as development continues.
The picture is partially participated by ai, manually modified, and the animation is manually produced
During the development of this game, AI-generative content was used to create auxiliary interface elements, some icons and character voice acting.
Main characters are hand-drawn. AI was used for some backgrounds, poses, and a few music tracks, which were later refined.
AI is only used for background images and some artworks. Prompts used do not contain any names and references to any artists.
The artist interacts with generative artificial intelligence to create the desired artistic effect that can evoke an emotional response.
During the development phase, some placeholder voices and vocal prototypes are generated using AI tools. These are used solely for iteration, testing, and internal production workflows. For the final release, all characters will be voiced by professional voice actors.
Used for creating the game banner
Our Art department uses generative AI at times in order to create distinctive 2D visuals for marketing materials, ensuring each piece aligns with Steam's guidelines and copyright laws. All the generated content is carefully curated, ensuring that a respectful gaming environment. This AI-assisted content enhances the aesthetic appeal of our game, while adhering to ethical standards.
I use Grok to help render background images for Scenes and the stores in order to set the tone/atmosphere.
Artificial intelligence was used to create the design of the store page.
AI generated art
Cover images, achievement images, several in-game textures were created, voice actors, TEXTS
Store capsule art was assisted with generative AI.
The aid of AI to generate Logo Art was used for Carth.
AI voice cloning has been used, however, all acting has been performed by the voice actor, only the voice has been changed through AI technology. ChatGPT was used to generate model numbers and descriptions for the in game parts store.
There are two A.I. Minds within BQ. The first mind creates the content/visuals. The second mind interacts with the player in the form of attackable NPCs or friendly NPCs. But both minds never communicate with each other, and the first mind never communicates with the player.
As a solo developer I use AI assistance to generate graphics and audio content for my games and marketing material. No generative text is used.
- Some artworks have been made with the help of the Midjourney AI tool. - The Map Data in some countries has been generated with the help of AI technology to recognize satellite images.
The store page assets use AI-generated art for their headers and capsules.
AI is used to generate some UI Icons and concept art.
Artificial intelligence (AI) was used during the development of this game to generate English language voiceover.
