Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
I used coding agents to code this game.
Some of the 2D artwork for this game was created with the assistance of generative AI image tools. This includes the Steam store page capsule and library images, the game logo, and some small 2D product icons used in-game. All AI-generated output was manually reviewed, edited and composited by the developer before use. All 3D models, environments, gameplay systems and code were created without generative AI. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
Generative AI was used to create selected voice performances (including the in-game commentator) as well as concept artwork and promotional illustrations. All AI-generated assets were reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer.
Pip Sellfish is made by one person. I used generative AI tools during development to help create some of the game's assets, such as artwork and music, every asset was hand-picked and integrated by me. No AI is used at runtime: nothing is generated while you play.
Generative AI-assisted tools were used in the development of this game to create some visual assets, music, sound effects, and localized translations.
Shadow Runner uses AI image-generation tools to create a portion of the game's 2D visual art. AI was used as a starting point for: • Store assets — capsule, header, and marketing images. • In-game illustrations — chapter cutscene art and non-interactive background/scene imagery. • Achievement icons. All AI-generated images were produced with commercial text-to-image models (Midjourney / Stable Diffusion / DALL·E), then reviewed, edited, composited, and color-corrected by the developer before shipping. Pixel-art sprites, all gameplay elements, UI, visual effects, audio, and code are hand-authored and not AI-generated. Audio is procedural (Web Audio), not AI. The game contains no live/runtime AI: nothing is generated on the player's machine during play, and no player data is sent to any AI service. The developer has confirmed the generated images do not depict real, identifiable people or third-party IP, and holds commercial-use rights under each tool's license.
Some of the game's artwork (such as background images) and store/marketing assets were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, and all of them were reviewed and adjusted by the developer. Some in-game descriptive texts were also drafted with AI assistance and manually verified. All AI-assisted content is pre-rendered — the game does not generate any content or code with AI during gameplay. Trailer narration uses VOICEVOX text-to-speech (VOICEVOX: Zundamon).
Portions of this game's art and audio were created using generative AI tools during development: card and character artwork, backgrounds and icons (including store page artwork), music, sound effects, and voice audio were AI-generated under human direction, then curated and edited by the developers. Game design, rules, code, card text and names, and all narrative writing are human-authored. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Syncline is developed by me — AI tools were used to assist with parts of development, including code, some text content (UI copy, tutorial hints, level descriptions, store page copy), localization/translations, and some audio. All such content was directed by me and reviewed/edited before being included. No content is generated by AI at runtime — everything players see, hear, and play is fixed at build time.
Music tracks used in the game were created using generative AI tools.
Some in-game radio/music tracks may be created with generative AI tools. These tracks are selected, reviewed and integrated manually by the development team. No live AI generation is used during gameplay.
The game's graphics and software are powered by artificial intelligence.
The game logo was created with the assistance of generative AI and edited by the developer. AI was also used to assist with localization translations for other languages, which were reviewed and edited by the developer. No live-generated AI content is used during gameplay.
Was used to help produce game buttons, physics, and level editor.
Generative AI tools were utilized to create some base visual and audio assets for Warix. AI was used to generate background textures, character sprites, and promotional store art. All AI-generated imagery was subsequently edited, composited, and polished by hand to fit the game's final aesthetic.
Localizations are mostly AI generated. AI was lightly used in programming.
The game is hanadcrafted by very talented individuals in our team. But as a small studio that is still learning and growing, we leveraged AI to aid us in production. We used AI to generate a few textures for the game. Having said that, we assure everyone that the final game is a result of the hardwork and dedication of a very talented and passionate team.
Generative AI (Claude, Anthropic) was used to draft narrative text including level briefing descriptions, objective text, and in-game educational hints. All narrative content was written collaboratively with human review and editing before inclusion in the final game.
VOIDWAVE's game design, programming, and automation simulation are built by hand. Some visual assets — certain sprites, icons, and UI art — were created with the help of generative AI tools and hand-edited to fit the game's style, and the game's music is AI-generated. Sound effects use procedural synthesis (not AI). All gameplay, systems, and balancing are human-designed, and all content is finalized during development — nothing is AI-generated while you play.
Store Page Description Please enter a message to players describing how this game uses generative artificial intelligence. Note: The Steam Store will display this message under the 'About This Game' section on the game's store page. You can return to this survey at any time to update this message or its localizations.
Sound design and Localization (localization can hopefully be community sourced with proper credit given in-game for users that assist with translations)
This game makes use of AI for localization of the following languages: Ukrainian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portugese (Brasil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Hindi. We're working with native translators, so expect this list to become shorter with time.
This game uses AI-generated content in the following ways: Images: AI tools were used to help compose the wine bottle label artwork. Music: AI tools were used to compose the in-game radio music and sound effects.
Game files contain AI generated voice lines.
Generative AI was only used to review some code and fix bugs.
Some of the sounds (such as BGM arrangements and sound effects) were created in advance using AI and are included in the game.
AI writing tools were used to assist in drafting store page descriptions and marketing copy. All game content, code, artwork, and audio were created without generative AI.
Generative AI tools were used in the development of Lexip to create initial drafts and source material for parts of the project, including code, visual assets, sounds, writing, and marketing materials. These outputs were not used unchanged; they were reviewed, selected, adapted, edited, and integrated by the developer. The final implementation, design decisions, and overall tuning were done manually. The game does not generate new AI content during gameplay.
We are using AI art assets in places where our Art has not caught up to the current game progress. We are continuing to produce art to replace the AI assets.
OverlayGG's in-game guides are written with the help of generative AI. We use large language models to research and condense publicly available information about each game into concise reference guides. All guides are generated ahead of time and stored in our catalog — nothing is generated live while you play. You can flag any guide for correction directly in the app. Some of our store-page and marketing artwork is also created using AI image tools.
Some artwork, music, text, and translations in this game were initially created with the assistance of AI tools, and were then manually edited, revised, or recreated by the developer.
Type Shogun uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork for some stylized visual assets, including Steam store/library artwork and selected marketing/capsule images. Some in-game background or presentation artwork may also include AI-assisted elements. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, selected, and curated by NH Media LLC before inclusion. Type Shogun does not use live generative AI during gameplay. Players cannot generate AI images, text, audio, or other AI content inside the game.
Some store-page and marketing imagery for Crown & Conquest (capsule art, icons) was created with the assistance of generative AI image tools. All gameplay, rules, audio, and in-game art are hand-authored, and the game does not use generative AI during gameplay.
Generative AI was used as an assistive tool for some parts of the following game development tasks: (Background images, item images, coloring of character artwork, sound, code review, optimization, and localization text.)
Human-crafted with AI assistance. Generative AI was used to assist with selected programming tasks (such as code optimization and debugging), create or enhance some voice-over and audio elements, and help refine selected graphical assets. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, integrated, and finalized by the developer.
Thousand Ward uses generative AI as part of the development pipeline to help create and refine some visual assets, including promotional artwork, background illustrations, event imagery, and supporting art concepts. Gameplay systems, balance, progression, and player-facing game design are authored and reviewed by the development team.
The creative direction and design of this game are the work of the developer. All code, copywriting, artwork, background images, and non-Chinese translations were AI-assisted.
Command Doctrine uses generative AI to create some of the content you play. When you generate a scenario or a campaign, an AI model produces the map, the opposing forces, the objectives, and the written mission briefing from your prompt. AI is also used to write narrative battle reports, to create the images that accompany them, and to interpret the natural-language orders you give your units. This content is generated live by third-party AI services. We apply content moderation and input filtering to guard against inappropriate or unsafe output.
Our team utilizes Generative AI technologies in the development of certain in-game elements.
Some visual assets and visual reference material used during development were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All final assets are reviewed, edited, and curated by me before use. I use these tools to support and enhance my own ideas and designs, not to replace the creative process.
A small number of texture assets use generative AI as a starting point and were manually edited for use in-game. Most visual assets are original, licensed, purchased, or used with creator permission.
This game contains pre-generated AI-assisted content, including some character artwork, visual assets, and audio. All AI-generated content has been reviewed, edited, and integrated into the game by the developer.
100% human made code, art, design, and audio! AI assistance was only used for a tiny fraction of the text localizations to fill small gaps in our community made translations and for translating the Steam store page descriptions to non English languages.
This game actively supports human creativity, notably musicians and programmers - but uses AI in the design of marketing materials and some aspects of software development. Neither the game itself - nor the procedural generation techniques used to create the world, music, or audio - use AI or AI-generated art.
Generative AI (a large language model) was used to assist in drafting text content — store page descriptions, in-game text, and marketing copy — and to assist with code. All output was reviewed and edited by the developer. Game art is from licensed/CC0 asset packs and procedural rendering; audio is procedurally synthesized. No AI-generated imagery or audio ships in the game, and no AI is generated live at runtime.
Some of this game's images and artwork, its background music, and parts of its translated text were created with the help of generative AI tools. All AI-assisted content was reviewed by the developer before being included. The Sudoku puzzles themselves are generated by traditional (non-AI) algorithms, and no content is generated by AI while you play.
To provide our players with a richer visual and auditory experience within a small-scale development environment, We used pre-generated AI tools to assist in creating some 2D art assets, background music, and voice lines.
Generative AI tools were used to support the developer's creative direction.
Some game artwork and visual assets were created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development.
