Public Steam disclosure research 25,714 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
In this game, we used Adobe Firefly to generate and edit some of the backgrounds, live-action footage, and effects materials.
All of the in-game voice-overs were created using AI.
As a solo developer working with a limited budget, I used generative AI tools to help bring my vision to life and add more variety to the game. Specifically, AI generated 10-20 graphical assets and assisted in creating about half of the game's music tracks. The vast majority of the game (over 95%) - including all core design, programming, and mechanics was created entirely by hand.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create selected pre-generated visual assets, including the application icon, HUD texture, Property Marketplace illustrations, and Legacy Vault artwork. Four background-music tracks were also created using Google Gemini. All AI-assisted content was reviewed by the developer and packaged with the game. Hero Investor does not generate AI content during gameplay or send player data to an AI service.
This game uses AI for UI and other 2D artwork. AI is also used to generate marketing artwork.
Some in-game and marketing images were generated with AI.
Pre-generated generative AI was used during development for selected static artwork and portions of player-facing writing and localization. All such content is fixed in the shipped build and was reviewed and edited during development. The game does not contact an AI service or generate content during play.
Pre-rendered AI Generated content was used in this game.
Wizard Disaster was made by a solo developer, using generative AI tools as part of the production pipeline. Art. Character, boss and background artwork, and the source frames the animations are built from, were produced with generative image and video tools. Everything was then cut, keyed, aligned, retimed and composited by hand into the sheets the game actually plays. The generated output is the raw material, not the finished asset. Concept passes were made the same way. Audio. The music and most of the sound effects were generated with Suno, then trimmed, pitched, levelled and fitted to the length of the action each one accompanies. Not all of the audio is generated: a number of the effects are synthesised procedurally in code from a 1930s orchestra-pit palette, and the wizard's own voice (his cries and shouts) are human recordings. Code. Generative AI was used as a programming assistant during development, and to build and run the automated test harnesses that measure boss pacing, damage output and medal times. Those harnesses are development-only tooling and are not part of the shipped game. The game contains no live-generated AI content. Nothing is generated while you play, and the game makes no network or AI service calls at runtime.
AI was used in some developer workflows for programming and for translation to all languages other than English.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create pre-generated visual assets, UI graphics, in-game text, character content, fictional file contents, audio, and localization. All AI-generated content was reviewed and edited by the development team before being included in the game. The game does not use generative AI at runtime or generate content live for players.
Generative AI Disclosure: This game utilizes generative AI tools to assist in creating player-facing assets, including base visual artwork, narrative script drafts, and voiceover audio (via ElevenLabs). All AI-assisted dialogue, visuals, and audio undergo significant manual editing, human curation, and design to ensure high production quality and artistic cohesion before shipping with the game. No live or dynamic generative AI is executed while the game is running.
We used Gemini AI during the development process to assist in generating some ambient background music tracks. Additionally, AI tools were used for minor assistance in refining some visual components and lighting enhancements for marketing assets. All components have been carefully curated, hand-edited, and integrated by the developer to comply with Steam's content policies.
AI-generated content is used to create some of the images featured in the game.
Verilight incorporates generative AI as part of its development pipeline for creating draft artwork, music, text, and programming assistance. All AI-generated material is manually reviewed, edited, refined, and integrated by the developer before being included in the final game. Artwork is transformed into the game's pixel-art style, music is manually arranged and adapted for each biome, and code is reviewed and modified before implementation. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
all the pictures are generated by artificial intelligence.
Some of the music in this game was created using generative AI tools. All other content — art, animation, writing and design — is made without generative AI.
Pre-generated AI tools were used during development to create some 2D visual assets, including in-game sprites, the application icon, and promotional artwork used on the Steam store page. AI tools also assisted with some English and Japanese text and localization. All outputs were reviewed and, where necessary, edited by the developer before being included. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Crownsink is a hand-crafted game built the modern way: the developer writes and directs the code with the support of AI tools, while every sprite, sound and note of music springs from the game's own hand-written algorithms.
OpenSheet uses generative AI for optional artwork only. This is disabled by default. Pre-rendered: the decorative art that ships with the app — character portraits, race and class backgrounds, creature illustrations, interface icons and stat-panel frames — was produced with OpenAI's image models, as were the application icon and this store page's artwork. All of it is decoration, every family of it can be switched off in Settings, and a new installation shows none of it by default. No rules content is AI-generated. Every rule, statistic, feat, spell, item, monster and table comes from the published 3.5 Edition SRD source material and the PCGen data set. The app is built so the book always wins.
Some character models, textures, animations, and visual props were created before release using generative AI tools, including Meshy image-to-3D, auto-rigging, and animation. Selected outputs were edited, integrated, and reviewed by the developer. Generative AI also assisted in drafting and refining portions of the Steam store-page text. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
AI tools are used to assist with the localization of in-game and store page text into other languages. All translations are reviewed by the development team and improved with community feedback. Some marketing artwork (store capsules and promotional images) was created with AI assistance, based on the game's own assets, characters and art style. All in-game content, gameplay, art assets and audio design are created by the development team.
Portions of this game's 2D artwork — character and enemy sprites, item and orb illustrations, backgrounds, UI decoration, and HUD icons — were created with the assistance of image-generation AI (GPT-image-2), working from the developer's own compositions, reference art, and prompts. Every AI-assisted image was individually selected, post-processed, and reviewed by the developer, and is tracked in an internal asset ledger. Store capsule artwork was produced the same way. Store screenshots are unedited captures of actual gameplay. Visual effects are generated procedurally by the developer's own code without AI. The game contains no AI-generated audio or music. Some in-game text was drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer.
This game uses generative AI to create visual assets, including character portraits, event CGs, and background images. All generated images were selected, adjusted, and finalized by the developer. The scenario, dialogue, game design, and system programming were created by the developer. AI translation assistance was used as part of the localization process, with the results reviewed by the developer.
Some game assets are generated using AI.
This game does not generate or modify content at runtime. A small portion of assets (around 20%) was made with the help of some generative AI tools during development. All such assets were manually edited, reviewed, and finalized to ensure originality, quality, and compliance with copyright and safety standards.
Some artwork and game assets were edited and created using AI tools.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with programming and code generation, and to create or refine certain pre-generated visual assets, including promotional artwork and selected in-game UI and art assets. All AI-assisted code and assets were reviewed, tested, and edited by the developer before inclusion. The released game does not generate content or code during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation of some visual assets, store artwork and initial localization drafts. All generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer. Immortal Chess does not generate AI content during gameplay.
We view artificial intelligence solely as a supportive tool. Generative AI was used only as a supportive tool for certain visual designs and language translation. Artificial intelligence helped with grammar corrections in in-game text; these corrections were then carefully reviewed and edited manually.
Some 2D art was made with generative AI as a starting point, cards are renders of our real 3D models with painted backgrounds. No in-game AI, no AI voices, no real people's likenesses. Art may be replaced during Early Access.
Certain visuals in this game have been created with AI.
The game includes AI-generated virtual price data and images.
Pre-generated AI was used for store text and five original rank-emblem images (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Grand Racc) shown in the ranked hub and marketing. The emblems were made from our own prompts with OpenAI Codex ImageGen, reviewed and processed by us, and use no third-party source art. The game generates no AI content during play.
Sia's art and sound - her sprites, the outfits, the tarot cards, the item and monster icons, the sound effects - were produced with the help of generative AI tools and then edited and assembled by hand. The store images were made the same way. The game's text was written in Korean by hand; the seven other language translations were AI-assisted and reviewed by a human. Nothing is generated while you play. The game ships as fixed image, sound and text files and never contacts an AI service.
Breathtoll includes some AI-generated content, all of it created during development. Nothing is generated live while you play. Cinematic cutscenes: the video imagery and animation are AI-generated. Creatures: the 3D creature models began as AI-generated base meshes and were hand-refined through multiple Blender passes (cleanup, retopology, and texturing) before use in the game. Store and marketing art: some capsule and store images are composed from frames of the AI-generated cutscenes. All other content is human-made, including the game code, systems, design, all writing (scripts, narration, and story), and the hand-authored card art. We hold the rights to the AI-generated content under the generating tools' commercial licenses. This disclosure reflects the current build. We are in the process of bringing on an artist for human-made renderings, and some of the AI-generated content above will be replaced with human-created work for the full launch. We will update this disclosure as that happens.
AI is used only for translation and sound effects.
Generative AI was used to create a small portion of the game’s artwork.
AI was used to generate code, art prototypes which were then handcrafted in Aseprite, CSS for UIs, and tedious copy stuffed in nooks and crannies to fill out the world.
Some card illustrations currently use AI-generated artwork. Following the game’s full release, these illustrations will gradually be replaced with artwork created by professional artists.
This game uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in the creation of certain visual assets, promotional store materials, and workflow scripts during development.
Generative AI was used during development to create or assist with some pre-generated visual assets, including character, item, environment, and Steam store capsule, library, and marketing artwork. All output is selected, edited, integrated, and reviewed by the developer. No content is generated during gameplay.
Portions of the game's text content (item descriptions and English localization) and store page text were written with the assistance of a generative AI language model, under human direction with full review and editing. All artwork is hand-drawn by the developers, and the game does not use any live/runtime AI generation.
Spellk uses AI for some of it's music and art. The aim is to replace the AI elements with human made ones at some point; but that is not guaranteed.
Gildoria uses AI-assisted tools in parts of its development: some UI icons were made with AI image generation, the in-game text was translated with AI translation tools. All of it was reviewed and edited by the developer. 3D art, level design, game design and codes are human-made or licensed. No content is generated by AI while the game runs.
The creative direction of GAZE IN SHADOWS was developed and controlled entirely by our team, including its 1928 setting, story, characters, case design, gameplay, and film noir-inspired visual style. Generative AI was used only as a supporting tool for early art exploration, asset refinement, and limited programming assistance. All AI-assisted content was manually reviewed, extensively revised, and finalized by our developers. AI was not involved in any core creative decisions.
The capsule artwork, logo, some card illustrations, and soundtrack were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All other in-game content — including UI, effects, and text — is hand-crafted without AI generation. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
The developer uses generative artificial intelligence to create some portions of the game including code and artwork. All creative decisions and testing have been performed by the developer.
Generative AI was used as part of the development pipeline for selected 2D icons and some 3D model source assets. All included assets were reviewed, edited, optimized, and integrated by the developer.
