Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
This game has used AI as a coding assistant and to help build tooling and interconnections (think API development and unit-testing).
I've not used AI to make the premise of any function, utilize it for pure vibe-coding or anything beyond additional tooling for the asset and behaviors.
Some assets in this game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development.
All content was reviewed, edited, and curated by the developer before being included in the game.
AI assisted with raw audio foundations, but humans manually rearranged and mastered every sound. Nothing went straight from the algorithm to your headphones.
"Developed in Godot with a focus on precision and hand-crafted systems. To maintain absolute control over the game’s quality and vision, generative AI was used for less than 10% of development, limited strictly to early-stage conceptual ideation for visual assets. Every final in-game asset has been manually hand-drawn, and 100% of the game’s code—including the massive 3,000+ line player controller—is hand-written. This ensures the tight, responsive gameplay essential for a high-stakes Metoridvania."
This game includes pre-generated visual assets created and edited using MidJourney.
Written content was developed with AI assistance (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) and edited by the developer.

AI Disclosure for "Lake Town Stories"
We use generative AI to assist in the creation of the following game assets:
Artwork: Background environments and character concepts were generated and refined with the assistance of AI tools.
Audio: Background music tracks and ambient sounds were created with the assistance of AI audio generation tools.
All AI-assisted content has been manually reviewed and integrated by the developer to ensure it aligns with the game's artistic vision.
The accompanying background voice, as well as certain sound effects, background music, and atmospheric audio elements, were created using ElevenLabs (text-to-speech and audio generation). The AI is used exclusively for voice and sound synthesis.
No other content (images, models, textures, story, or visual assets) was generated using AI. All other elements are either handcrafted or properly licensed.
The developer confirms that the use of AI complies with Steam’s guidelines and does not infringe on any copyrights.
The developer uses generative AI tools throughout the entire development process of this game.
Visual Arts: All character illustrations, card designs, backgrounds, and UI elements were generated using AI. The developer has manually reviewed and post-processed these assets to ensure artistic consistency and quality.
Code & Programming: The core game logic and systems were developed with the assistance of large language models (LLMs) to ensure stability and efficiency.
Script & Dialogue: All narrative content, world-building lore, and character dialogues were generated using AI and subsequently edited by the developer for narrative flow.
Commitment to Safety: > We ensure that the AI models and prompts used in development do not generate illegal or infringing content. All AI-generated assets have been thoroughly screened to comply with Steam's distribution policies.
Academy of Samsara utilizes generative AI to achieve its distinct retro anime aesthetic. AI was used in the creation of character portraits and background environments. Trivia narratives were drafted with AI assistance and subsequently reviewed, edited, and verified for accuracy by the developer.
This game uses AI-assisted tools as part of the production pipeline for selected visual assets and audio. Final assets are directed, edited, selected, integrated, and reviewed by Moire X Studio.
AI generative models were used to create localization files to support languages that would otherwise be difficult for a solo developer. Placeholder AI-generated assets have been created for the Steam store splash images, with the intent of commissioning an artist if this gains community support. All in-game assets (sprites, music, sound effects, UI elements, and interactive content) were created by humans and are credited in the game credits. CPU opponents use traditional game AI algorithms, not generative AI models.
This is the third iteration of development, that was originally developed in 2019 with HTML + JS, then rebuilt in Unity, and then transferred to LOVE2D written in Lua. It was more-or-less built with a box of scraps in a cave in its first iterations, and modern software since those days have effectively blurred the line where task automation meets unethical AI consumption.
It's up to each of us to determine where that line is for ourselves in a rapidly changing digital age. As both a solo game dev and multimedia artist carrying a full-time job in neither of those fields, I feel that it's important to be educating ourselves on where AI can be a useful tool to allow new opportunities and expand capabilities for independent creators that are otherwise untenable, while keeping the human side of game dev at its core, especially in the indie genre.
Generative AI was used solely to assist in creating promotional materials and store page visuals.
All in-game content is human-created and does not involve generative AI.
The promotional assets used in the store for this free game (cover image and the screen animation in the trailer) were created with the help of artificial intelligence.
Generative AI tools were used during development in a supportive role. This includes assistance with grammar checks and text refinement, as well as helping translate original German game content into clear and natural English.
In addition, AI assisted image generation was used as a basis for selected HUD elements and inventory item visuals, as well as for a small number of in game visual assets. AI assisted tools were used during the creation of the game’s background music. All AI generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated manually to ensure consistency with the game’s art style and overall presentation.
Father, PhD student, and Software Engineer during the day; game developer at night. This game was developed solo by me over two years, with no significant budget, and before AI was cool: #realindie #livingthedream. All visual assets and other in-game content were created by humans or purchased from human creators. The only exception is the voice work, which was produced using paid professional voice synthesis software rather than human voice actors due to budget limitations (#realindie #solodev). If the game generates enough revenue and there is community interest, I plan to replace it with real voice acting in a future version.
I make games as a solo designer, so a few images have been generated for textures and sprites along with editing to make sure they fit the game. I also use it for programming and writing descriptions. I also use it to change my voice because I'm the only voice actor. I'm too broke to pay a bunch of people so AI isn't taking any jobs, just helping me create content in a realistic timeline.
AI tools are applied to the size adaptation and filling of image assets on some store pages and game backgrounds, providing ideas and assistance for the migration and writing of game code.
This game uses generative AI to create unique detective cases and power in-game conversations. At the start of each session, the AI generates a new case (scenario details, suspects, motives, and leads). During gameplay, NPC dialogue is also generated in real time based on the case context and what you type.
To keep things safe and on-topic, the game includes guardrails that filter both player input and AI output. AI-generated text is used only for gameplay narrative and dialogue.
Some of the game’s word lists were filtered and generated with the help of generative AI (e.g., compiling candidate words and removing unsuitable entries). We then manually review and refine the results to ensure quality and a consistent gameplay experience. Other core game content is not generated by AI.
Artwork and narrative elements in Lyra Signal were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All content has been carefully reviewed by the development team to maintain the story, atmosphere, and quality of the game experience.
Thunderhawk: Danger Close uses a minimal amount of AI generated assets, including a handful of textures, marketing art, and dialog. Roughly 95% of the game's total content is human-authored, including all models, sound effects, music, and code. A detailed AI-generated content disclosure can be found on our website.
We use generative AI as a support tool in development, mainly for music and some textures. The generated material was reviewed and adjusted by the human team before being integrated into the game.
Artificial Intelligence was used exclusively for text localization and language translations. The pixel art and animations were handcrafted by the professional artists credited within the game. Sound effects and music are licensed assets curated for this project. No generative AI was used for any artistic, visual, or audio production.
We've harnessed the power of Generative AI technology to create several of our game's unique theme background artworks, enhancing your gaming experience with visually stunning designs.
At the time of release, the final product will not contain any elements created using generative artificial intelligence. AI is used solely for the creation of demonstration graphical content. The final in-game content will be created by human authors.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with the creation of some 2D images, audio assets, and the initial translation of text. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and approved by the developer before being included in the game.
