Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.

Video, some textures, and 3D models
The game includes pre-generated sound effects created with generative AI. Some store and promotional artwork was also created with AI tools. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.
Generative AI was used to create and refine the game's store capsule art and logo. No other in-game assets were generated with generative AI, and to the best of my knowledge, the same is true of third-party assets. Separately, a model trained with reinforcement learning controls enemy behavior. It does not generate content.
AI was used to help develop some plugins, edit text, and brainstorm illustration ideas. No AI-generated images are used in the game.
Some visual assets in the game were created using generative AI. This includes the game's logo and some of the artwork found in the hospital map. The hospital map is part of a purchased asset pack, and some of the artwork in the environment was already AI-generated.
Generative AI was used to assist with the creation of some promotional artwork, Steam store page copy, and translations. These materials were prepared during development, before being presented to players.
Some textures were created with AI assistance.
Studs Up! ships some pre-generated AI content. All of it was reviewed and edited by hand before it went into the game: - Player portraits and the end-of-season win/loss backdrops: image generation, converted down to the game's limited-palette pixel formats. - The match music loop and the match sound effects: audio generation, edited and loudness-normalised. - The announcer voice in the trailer: voice generation. No AI runs while you play. The game is fully offline and generates nothing at runtime.
Artificial intelligence was used as a supportive developer tool. It helped create conceptual background environment art. It also generated ambient layers for the soundtrack. This was done solely to enhance the neon synthwave atmosphere. All content underwent manual selection and final refinement.
Generative AI was used to create pre-rendered story illustrations, horror encounter images, promotional artwork and music. AI tools also assisted with narrative text and localization. These assets are prepared in advance; the game does not generate AI content during play.
Mythbound features a small portion of generated assets in the form of environmental props for it's Early Access period. No generated assets will be featured in the final release of the game.
During the development of our game, pre-generated AI tools were used to assist with asset creation. We utilized Gemini 3.1 Pro to generate UI illustrations and localized text, and Suno AI to create the background music. All AI-assisted assets have been human-reviewed, edited, and integrated into the final build. The game does not contain any live-generated AI content.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with selected text content and localization. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and edited by the developer before inclusion. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.

I've used AI for a lot of things in this project. The code, 3D models, textures, 3D animations, music and more. I know a lot of people don't anything to do with AI so I want to be up front. This is a small pet project, I'm able to create a lot more of my vision than I could without AI. I do not dismiss the reasons people have for rejecting AI.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with some artwork and text, including the main menu background, achievement icons and draft translations for some localized text. This content was selected and edited during production and is included as pre-generated game assets. The game does not use generative AI services to create content at runtime.
Below The Loop uses generative AI-assisted tools during development to create some visual assets and marketing artwork. These assets are pre-generated and reviewed and edited as part of the development process. The game does not use AI to generate content in real time during gameplay.
The 3D model are made by AI
Some images and sounds were created with the help of AI.
Almost all of the art in the game has been created by Alexandr Elichev, the artist of the original Gloomhaven board game. A few missing art assets for summoned creatures for characters for this game were generated with AI. We hope to be able to replace these with official art as time progresses (and when I have a stable job to be able to pay for this).
This game utilises AI for generating marketing materials and in-game paintings.
Most of battle sounds come are authored but some voiceover is AI. I will provide option to disable all AI voices. If game budged grows i will reinvest it to get it replaced and sounds recorded by actual people.
Some modeling and sound effect assets were created using AI.
AI technologies were used for localization proofreading and generating select illustrative graphic assets to supplement text descriptions.
5 village houses and 1 weapon models are generated by AI as placeholder. We planned to replace all of them gradually.

Hi everyone. I want to be open about how this game was made and why generative AI was used. Aika Was Supposed to Die began as a story that I wrote and developed over more than two years. The world, characters, dialogue, themes, and narrative direction were all written by me. I cared deeply about this story, and eventually I felt that a visual novel would be the best way to bring it to life. As an independent developer working with a limited budget, hiring a full team of artists is not financially possible for me right now. I greatly value human-made art and the work of professional artists. I am also a 3D artist who works with Unreal Engine, so this is something I genuinely care about. Rather than leave the story untold, I chose to use generative AI as part of the visual production process. The game’s images and video assets were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. However, I did not want that to become an excuse for delivering something careless or low-quality. In fact, having access to these tools encouraged me to be as ambitious as possible with the project. I created and refined a large number of images and animated sequences to give the game a richer and more cinematic presentation. Every asset was carefully directed, selected, edited, revised, and manually integrated into the story, with the goal of providing players with a cohesive, polished, and emotionally engaging experience. The writing, narrative design, scene direction, timing, editing, and final creative decisions were all handled by humans. Generative AI was used as a production tool, not as a replacement for authorship, creative direction, or care. No AI content is generated during gameplay. If the game becomes successful enough to support a larger production, I would love to work with professional artists on future chapters. Until then, this approach has allowed me to share a story that means a great deal to me while doing everything within my reach to make the final experience cohesive, personal, and emotionally meaningful. Thank you for giving this story a chance.
We use AI tools as part of our developer workflow, in some cases for generative textures, 2D or 3D placeholders, in other cases for actual designs to be used in the game, this can also be a mix of both.
Generative AI used for Audio narration
We used an AI diffusion tool in Krita to help create the background for the small capsule shown in search results. Our artist then worked over it with several extra layers, a bit like matte painting. For now, it's a placeholder until our artist finishes the hand-painted version of the small capsule. The logo and the other capsule images were already hand-painted by our artist. The in-game portraits were also drawn by another artist on our team. We have a devlog on our website about how we made the capsule artwork and hero portraits, and we'll share the full process on the Steam Community soon too. The playtest build also includes a few placeholder assets made with AI tools in Krita. Our new UI artist is working on a new UI, so we'll be replacing those placeholders soon. As mentioned above, the hero portraits are also hand-drawn by our artist.
