Public Steam disclosure research 25,394 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Used as placeholders (Cinematics, music & some soundfx.)
AI was used to generate background music, English voice-over, a video featuring the team logo, and a small portion of textures.
Generative AI tools were used during parts of the game's development process for concept exploration, visual ideation, and promotional asset creation. All gameplay systems, game design, programming, and final in-game content were reviewed, edited, and integrated by the development team.
logos and cover art are AI-generated
The game used generative AI to assist with the creation of some of the content, such as art assets, sound, music, etc.
This game used generative AI tools during development to assist with the creation of some 3D modeling and audio assets. During gameplay, AI does not generate content or code, and the game does not rely on real-time AI systems.
To make the game accessible to as many regions as possible, all translations besides English were produced using advanced generative AI localization tools. We are committed to updating these translations based on player feedback.
Some UI elements of this game are created with AI generative.
The development of VISE was assisted by AI
Some parts of the soundtrack and certain voice lines were created using AI.
In-game music tracks were created using generative AI-assisted tools and were subsequently edited, mixed, arranged, and mastered by the developer. All AI-generated material was reviewed and modified as part of the final audio production process.
AI was used to create the store banners. In-game screenshots and videos accurately reflect the actual gameplay.
The game content, including gameplay mechanics, visuals, and audio, as well as the store page content — including descriptions, images, and other assets — were generated with the assistance of AI tools.
I use AI to summarize documentation, criticize my code, and help me make sense of error messages. Sometimes I feel discouraged and I ask AI to write stuff for me. Seeing the garbage it produces makes me feel better, and encourages me to try again :)
This game contains some AI-generated art and sound assets used during gameplay.
Realm of Balls was developed with the help of generative AI tools during production, but the game does not include live AI-generated content for players.
During the development of Hell Cleaners, AI tools were used to create early concepts and references to help explore the visual direction of the game. All final art assets that ship in the game were created, painted, or reworked by hand by our art team. No AI-generated audio, voice, or narrative text is used in the shipped product. We believe games should be made by humans!
Original Chinese text was written by the developer. AI was used solely to assist with translation and localization into other languages. No AI-generated art, audio, or live-generated content is included in the game.
Localization was done in large parts by AI.
AI as part of modern development workflows
AI generates a few images and icons, reviewed manually.
Translations other than Japanese are performed using a text generation AI.
Generative AI tools were used to create images, audio, and text materials used in the game and on the store page. Generated materials are reviewed, selected, edited, and adjusted by the developer before use. The game does not include any feature that live-generates AI content during gameplay.
AI have been used to generate/improve a few posters and paints visible in the environnement. These images were first drawn by internal game artist of the team. Voices have been generated with AI.
We use generative AI in a limited capacity for certain visual and written content. Generative AI may be used for: - Marketing materials, including promotional artwork, trailer graphics, and store page content. - Loading screen images and decorative in-game poster artwork. - Assistance with some written text, such as tutorials and informational content. Generative AI is not used for: - Live content generation during gameplay. - Gameplay screenshots shown on the Steam store page. - Maps, level geometry, character models, weapons, gameplay assets, game mechanics, or networking systems. - Player-generated content.
Some store page artwork, capsule images, and library artwork for Peg Cascade were created with assistance from generative AI tools, then selected, edited, and prepared by the developer for use in the game’s presentation. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.
The sounds in the game are played based on code generated by AI.
This game is a solo development project created entirely by one person. All ideas, level design, 3D models, animations, visual assets, images, and core coding were made by hand and mind of the developer. Artificial intelligence was used only in a supportive role, specifically to assist with minor coding tasks and to generate certain sound effects. The creative vision, gameplay systems, and all visual content are original works produced directly by the developer.
AI was used solely to assist with the English and Spanish translations, which were then manually reviewed by the developers. However, they may still contain errors. If you find any, please let us know.
Characters and Music is generated by AI
Some visual assets, promotional images, and audio content for this game were created or assisted using generative AI tools. All AI-generated content was reviewed and edited by the developer before inclusion in the game.
The game to contain art assets generated by artificial intelligence
Some of the images on the game's store page were generated using artificial intelligence.
AI helped me produce the game, some sounds and artwork!
This game uses generative AI to create in-game content.
The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this: We used generative AI to help create the level layouts and parts of the game code. Everything was then tweaked, edited, and put together by us. All gameplay and design decisions are fully human-made.
This game is a solo-developed hobby project. Generative AI tools were used as part of the production workflow, including assistance with code, audio, and base visual assets. No generative AI output is used as a final in-game asset; all assets were manually edited, and integrated by the developer. The story, dialogue, and all other written in-game content were written by the developer. All gameplay design, creative direction, balancing, and final content decisions were made by the developer.
We used AI to help write some of the code for the game.
Generative AI was used as a development assistant during this project. It helped with brainstorming gameplay mechanics, coding/debugging support, level design ideas, marketing copy, store description text, and some promotional/store artwork. The game itself is a 2D platformer developed in Unity. Gameplay does not use live generative AI, and no content is generated dynamically during gameplay.
AI-generated artifacts
AI assistance was used in the game's cover art, title images, and other materials, as well as in the translations of the page descriptions.
AI was used in the creation process of images for this game.
AI was used only for the logo. No in-game elements are AI-generated.
Research assistance, technical guidance, text refinement, and code troubleshooting
In the development of BABY PEAK, we utilized artificial intelligence as a supportive tool to enhance our creative vision. Here is how it was integrated: Conceptual Brainstorming: AI was used as a sounding board during the early stages of development for brainstorming core mechanics, naming suggestions, and general concepts. Routine Tasks & Optimization: We employed AI tools to handle repetitive technical tasks, such as optimizing small code snippets and organizing data, to increase our workflow efficiency. Human-Driven Craftsmanship: All core game design, level architecture, visual identity, and gameplay balancing are entirely the result of our team’s manual work and creativity. In short, AI did not act as the "creator" of this game; instead, it served as a digital assistant to help us bring our unique ideas to life more efficiently.
Logo and store header is AI generated, as I am utterly, completely broke. This will be replaced if magically I earn enough money at some point to actually hire someone (which I strongly doubt due to the niche market of this project).
AI was used solely for translation and localization purposes (store page and in-game text).
I used generative AI to create the capsule art for String Mace.
Generative artificial intelligence was partially used during the development of the game. AI-based tools assisted with parts of the code, the creation of certain textures, and the production of some trailer scenes. All generated materials were manually refined and integrated by the developers to ensure quality and consistency with the game’s artistic vision.
AI was used to make the paint streaks in the main menu and pause menu.
