Public Steam disclosure research 25,394 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
This game uses artificial intelligence to create some images and sounds. It is also used to create unique music.
ChatGPT corrected some translations and my spelling and grammar errors...
This game does not include AI "art". Anything with an artistic quality, rather than an attempt to emulate a realistic texture, was created by a human. Photorealistic AI-generated images were sampled to create some of the game's textures, and often heavily edited since raw output is unsuitable. 3D models, sounds, and music in this game were created by a human with zero AI assistance.

In this game, NPCs are created using image and 3D modeling AI technologies.
Generating individual objects Generating soundtracks and sounds
I used AI to generate the assets and assist in code development, but AI is not used in-game.
Steam graphical assets (Store Page small background, Library background banner)
Throughout the development of our game, we may leverage AI-based tools to assist our small two-person team in content creation, but please rest assured that what you see in the game primarily reflects the creativity and hard work of our team; all core gameplay mechanics, level design, story, and programming were created entirely by our developers. Specifically, AI tools were utilized to generate atmospheric background music, eerie sound effects, and ambient noises for the Sound Design and Music, and were also used for minor visual elements such as unique textures, pictures, and posters used in some of our environments.
During development, we used AI-assisted tools in a limited way to explore/promote content: (1) some store capsule artwork, (2) certain in-game icons, and (3) draft variations of dialogue and story beats. All final assets were human-reviewed and edited for originality, style consistency, and IP compliance. The game does not use live generative AI at runtime or connect to AI services during play.
Some textures, objects, and parts of monsters were created with the help of AI, based on my sketches and followed by extensive edits. All the rest of the visuals are a mix of drawings and edited photographs.
This game includes AI-generated English voice and minor content.
Some of the backgroundsare based on images created with AI, they have been reprocessed to suit the style of the game.
The text translation data.
Use of AI for creating the base of sprites and soundtrack.
AI is used to make store page covers(pictures)
Some monster and character images are generated by AI
AI was used to generate storefront artwork/marketing materials.
As a solo developer, it's really hard to work on everything, so I used some AI tools to help me along the way. I don't generate anything from scratch. Everything used in the game has been first designed, concepted, and sketched. Then used AI to improve on the design. Also, generated content has been modified after with image editors to fit and adapt to the vision and needs of the game. Some examples are: Textures for some objects, ui cohesion, English writing...
Voice acting and a few art assets were supported by AI tools to keep this ambitious project possible as a solo developer.
Search for references, polishing of art, help with ideas, creation of 3D blocking.
Some in-game assets are developed with the help of generative AI tools
Pre-generated AI content only. During development, AI-assisted tools were used to help generate 2D sprites (characters such as ghosts, bats, skeletons, etc.) and to assist in writing game object scripts and behaviors. No AI system generates new code, text, or visuals while the game is running. All AI-generated assets were reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer before inclusion in the game. The game contains no live-generated AI content.
All images within the game were generated using a neural network.
A very small portion of the visual artwork and environmental paintings in Phobophobia 1.0 – The Experiment were assisted by generative AI during development, used only sparingly for artistic refinement. The game itself including all gameplay, story, and core content is 100 percent created by human developers, with no AI generated content used in game or produced live.
I use generative AI for in-game images and translations.
Some textures and images used in the game were created with the assistance of AI tools and then modified. All content is static and does not involve AI generation during gameplay
AI is used only for Steam library artwork and promotional materials. The game itself contains no AI-generated content.
Some images and sounds in this game were created using artificial intelligence.
In our game, we used artificial intelligence for some buttons, icons, other UI elements, and marketing materials (such as capsule images).
I used for backgrounds
Cursor assistance for programming, some textures generated with ML
We use AI for both development and creative support. Assets generated by both AI and humans are collaboratively refined by AI and humans before being used in the game.
We mainly used AI for the player voice and some sound effects. It was also used for certain textures and provided assistance during coding.
Some text in the game and its marketing was polished with AI assistance for correct grammar, and certain marketing images were refined using image-editing tools with AI capabilities (e.g. remove tool).
In this project, AI was used only to create the voice-over and visual assets. All output was human-edited and commercial use licenses were verified.
The cardboard cut out Characters are made using AI.
AI is used for translating texts into multiple languages, creating voiceovers, and assisting in content development. This includes elaborating ideas and expanding story notes: AI helps to develop the context I provide, enhancing the material, while I manually review and adjust the results to ensure they match the desired tone and details.
We use Generative AI as an assistive tool during the development process. Its primary uses are for code debugging, refactoring, and optimization, similar to a code assistant. We also use it as a creative sounding board to brainstorm and refine game design ideas. No art, music, sound, or in-game text assets that are directly visible or audible to the player have been generated by AI. All final game assets are created by the developer.
Steam Capsule is made by AI.
This game uses pre-generated AI art. All in-game elements—including illustrations, backgrounds, and bosses—were created with generative tools and then edited and refined by the developer. The only exceptions are a few assets.
The capsules were created using AI tools.
Short NPC dialogue uses Text-To-Speech audio Original card art created by a professional artist. With their permission, a few variants were made using AI tools
Store visuals were created with the help of ChatGPT.
Although all pieces of art is 100% redrawn, AI is used to create some reference images.
Some character voice lines in this game were generated using AI-based voice synthesis tools. No real-time AI generation occurs during gameplay, and all AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and approved manually to ensure consistency and ethical use. No personal or copyrighted voice data was used.
