There is no AI generated content in this game. All artwork and scenes were made by me or asset creators on the marketplace without the use of AI generated content.
Character voice acting contains AI voice.
The Dark Cowboy is a solo-developed project created over several years in Unreal Engine. To achieve a cinematic experience as a single creator, AI tools were integrated into the production workflow in a few specific areas. Cinematics & Visuals Generative AI tools assisted in creating visual material for cinematic sequences, as well as static artwork for loading screens and promotional imagery. Audio & Voice Performances Character dialogue is performed using voice models derived from licensed human voice performances, alongside select atmospheric tracks to enhance the game’s immersive soundscape. Writing & Localization Language models assisted with editorial review of scripts and helped produce translations across the game's 14 supported languages. All such elements were carefully directed, manually refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure they fully support the atmosphere and storytelling of The Dark Cowboy.
Image generation is used for in-game elements such as posters
The original appearance of the art was recreated using AI and further refined by humans
Some translations are AI-generated.
This game contains works created by use of AI in the creation of dialogue audio for the characters. All AI generated content was created as original works by the developer.
AI assistance was utilized in creating the loading screen images, some in-game painting images in Demonsomnia, and some images on the store page.
The graphics in the game (backgrounds and sprites) - are the result of strong processing of 3d models.
The game uses some AI generated and manually modified content only for paitings and photographs as well as for some of the text content (modified and reworded).
**Disclosure on Use of Generative AI in Development** *Lost Traces: False Awakening* and *Lost Traces: Genesis* are ambitious projects developed by a **small indie team**. To efficiently achieve the large scope and detail of the game's world, we made selective use of pre-generated tools during development. This approach was strictly limited to foundational elements which were then heavily refined by human artists and engineers: * **Character Designs (Images):** A portion of the initial character design concepts and visual elements (used on the store page and in-game) were informed by licensed image generation tools, such as **Stable Diffusion**. Every single piece of content has since been **manually edited, digitally painted, and extensively refined** by our artists to ensure unique visual identity and high quality. * **Voice Dialogue (Audio):** A portion of the in-game voice dialogue was generated using licensed text-to-speech or AI voice tools. This audio was subsequently run through **professional editing, mastering, and processing** to ensure vocal quality, pacing, and consistency across the game's soundscape. Our team maintains **full creative and artistic control** over all final assets. We did not use any AI tools to generate content *live* during gameplay.
Some object textures are AI generated to apparently look AI generated as a commentary, distorted and non human (dreamtexture plugin for Blender with prompts like "AI looking alien food" and such. Pictures of faces have been generated with this-person-does-not-exist.com to look like conventionnaly beautiful but generic portraits, again foreshadowing the idea what a person looks like, from an AI, algorithmically driven system.
Due to our team having only one artist and one engineer, using AI assistance during the development process is crucial. This technology saves a significant amount of time and resources, helping us maintain momentum in our development efforts. We primarily apply AI technology during the drafting stage to expedite the design process and improve efficiency. Specifically, we only utilize AI assistance for certain game scenes and objects, with final adjustments made manually to complete the final drafts. As for character illustrations within the game, they are entirely designed and finalized by the artist from start to finish.
A texture for one backround asset was created using generative AI. The paintings, posters and other artwork you see in the game are NOT made by AI.
The main menu background, textboxes, and some in-game assets contain AI generated images.
AI has been used in a limited way* for the following aspects: Text Localization, Speech Localization and Musical Audio. *The base was AI-generated, but the transformative creation built upon it stands as an original work. (Text was controlled by a human, the voice and musical audio were edited and reworked by a human)
Some parts of the images used in the Steam Storepage are AI generated.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with early concept art exploration, general coding support, and the creation of background music (BGM). All in-game assets, gameplay systems, level design, and final implementation are fully handcrafted and curated by the developer. No AI-generated content is created dynamically during gameplay.
The paintings and the voices are created with AI.
Some audio and music have been generated by IA.
Some visual assets, such as store capsule images and in-game card illustrations, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All gameplay and code are original.
This is a SPOILER, actually, but your arch enemy in this game is an Evil Generative A. I. It must look accordingly. Big part of it is A. I. generated, and it's made as obvious as possible.
We use AI to generate dialogs in game, all characters have their own personality thanks to AI.
AI was used to generate some of the paintings seen on the walls in-game, as well as some community profile items (such as Steam badges).
DeepVoice(from the unity asset store) asset is used to pre-generate some of the character voices in the game and in one of the trailers
AI used to assist with background paintings & VO.
The images in the game are collages and/or modified parts of images created by AI. Each image was processed and animated manually by a human. Parts of the images have been redrawn by humans.
The AI integrated into Mental creates a dynamic experience by automatically generating text, textures, sound, lighting, and gameplay mechanics. Each session offers unique stories, customized visual environments, and challenges adapted in real-time to your actions, ensuring a consistently fresh and immersive adventure.
Two profile pictures (one of these designs is also used as a decal on a tool), all of the "records" in the main characters room, designs on the vape packaging, and a background image for a vending machine were created with Adobe Generative Fill. The Security Robots and The Coffee Time video use audio generated by TTS Maker. The TOS was templated with AI as a generic TOS and meaningful elements were edited in. The Coffee Drink descriptions are pure, unfiltered, AI corpo-garbage-text. I used AI for these purposes because the uncanny-valley, soulless, style was exactly what I wanted as an art direction. I wanted to depict a future in which the soul of the world has been killed by AI. Making humans create art in the style of AI sounds completely dehumanizing, but you're entitled to your opinion.

The game uses AI-generated images. Some character's voices and sounds are AI-generated. Some texts are assisted by artificial intelligence.
As an indie developer, we use AI tools for translating the game, generating some textures, and for audio-related tasks, such as creating sound files and voice recordings.
Generative AI is used in this game to assist with localization, helping to translate in-game text into multiple languages efficiently
The images in the game are collages and/or modified parts of images created by AI. Each image was processed and animated manually by a human.
UPDATE: over 90% of the AI-generated content was removed! Some of the 2D art and music in The Classrooms were originally created with the help of AI tools, not as a replacement for artists, but to get the uncanny, slightly "off" look of AI-generated content. This was intentional, as it reflects the kind of strange content the Superstructure itself would make. Our goal has always been to evoke that uneasy and almost-familiar feeling. To build on this while moving away from AI, we are now trying approaches like fan art contests to gradually replace this content, while still preserving this unique aesthetic. For video and music production, we plan to collaborate with real people, though budget and scheduling mean this will take time.
If your ingame choices are inconsistent or raise moral questions, you’ll have to justify them in writing. An AI will read your defense and decide whether it counts as a solution. Convince it — because its verdict carries real consequences in the game.
Some character illustrations, item images and sounds are generated by AI and processed and edited for use by the developer.
A few of the 3D models and textures have been generated with AI tools.
Voices: Some character voices, like Morana, were created using AI as a base and then refined through manual post-processing.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure for NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating From the very outset, "NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating" was conceived as a cosmic horror experiment in itself. Instead of passively wondering how generative AI might impact creative professions, we decided to confront that existential dread head-on. Our core design philosophy was to push the boundaries of AI's capabilities, attempting to completely replace human creative input and, in essence, make ourselves obsolete in the game development process. Our findings, however, have been profoundly ironic and surprisingly reassuring. While generative AI played a significant role in various aspects of the game's development (including concept generation, preliminary asset creation, dialogue outlines, and certain code snippets), we discovered that achieving a cohesive, engaging, and polished experience still required substantial human oversight and manual intervention. AI, in its current form, proved to be an invaluable tool for iteration and initial ideation, but it could not replicate the nuanced artistic direction, problem-solving, and quality assurance that only human creativity and discernment can provide. Ultimately, this experiment demonstrated that the path to creative obsolescence is far from straightforward. In a twist we didn't anticipate, the very act of attempting to replace ourselves with AI actually created new roles and opportunities for human collaborators in areas where AI fell short. This project, born from a fear of replacement, has, against all odds, generated more work for creative professionals rather than eliminating it. The human touch remains indispensable in bringing a truly unique and compelling vision to life.
Texture Upscaling.
