Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with some visual assets, including textures, 3D asset creation and store artwork, as well as store text and translations. Assets are reviewed and adapted before integration. VoxelForge does not generate AI content during play and does not connect to an external AI service during play.
This game is handcrafted by indie developers. Generative tools were used only to support the creation of specific assets, while the final game reflects the developers’ own creative vision.
Some of the content in Abyss Floors was created with the help of generative AI tools, always under the developer's direction and review:
Text — Portions of the game's descriptive and flavor text (item and ability descriptions, interface copy, and atmospheric lore lines) were drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer.
Store & branding art — The store-page capsules, library images, and other branding graphics were produced with AI-assisted tools.
Abyss Floors is a text- and table-driven simulation, so there is no AI-generated illustrated art in actual gameplay, and all screenshots on this page are captured directly from the live game. The game's design, balance, systems, and code are the developer's own, with AI used as a development aid rather than to generate gameplay content.
Junkyard Astronauts was developed with substantial help from an AI coding assistant (Claude), directed and reviewed by the developer. Specifically: the game's code was largely written with AI assistance; the 3D models, textures and yard layouts are produced by procedural generator scripts written with AI assistance; the sound effects are built from licensed, human-recorded sound libraries (Sonniss GDC bundles, Kenney) assembled and mixed by scripted tools written with AI assistance; the soundtrack is composed and rendered by a music engine written with AI assistance; parts of the store text and the achievement names were drafted with AI assistance. Everything was reviewed, edited and play-tested by the developer before shipping. No AI service is used during gameplay, and no content is generated at runtime. No AI-generated content imitates a real person or a third party's protected work.
Some art assets, sound effects and texts of this game are produced with the assistance of generative AI. No real‑time AI‑generated content will be created during gameplay.
Some art assets and marketing images were created or assisted with generative AI during development, then curated and edited for the final game. The game does not generate AI content in real time during play.
Generative AI is used as a development aid for research, information analysis, routine technical tasks, and assistance with drafting and editing text for the Steam store page. No AI-generated 2D or 3D artwork, audio, or live-generated content is included in the game. The game's concept, creative direction, design, and implementation are the work of the developer.
The store page images for Timberland — the key art, capsules, logo and icon — were created with generative AI tools and then edited by hand. The screenshots are real gameplay, unretouched.
Part of the code was also written with the help of an AI assistant. Game design, world generation, mechanics and the remaining textures are the developer's own work.
AI is not used for any aspect of music creation or sound. And no actual game art was created with AI (Inventory items, decals, portraits, etc. All of that was fully painted by a human.)
AI was used for code work and project management. ONLY a small amount of the textures (less than 10) used in the world were created with the help of AI.
Generative AI was used to assist with bug fixes, text editing, and portions of the game's music. Generative AI was not used for the game's direction, art direction, or gameplay mechanics.
About Generative AI Content
We want to be transparent with our players about how AI was used during the development of this game:
Visual Art: Certain visual assets and background elements in this game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, then reviewed and integrated by our team.
Code & Development: We utilized AI-powered coding assistant and large language models to help prototype, write, and optimize parts of the game's code to speed up development efficiency.
All AI-generated outputs shipped to players have been curated to ensure they meet our quality standards for your experience.
Crappy Corp uses a small amount of pre-generated AI content, all created
during development and shipped as fixed assets: the looping background
video on the main menu, and the game's achievement icons. Both were made
with AI image and video tools and then edited and finished by hand.
Parts of the game's code were also written with AI assistance.
Everything else is not AI generated. The 3D models, characters,
environments and animations are licensed commercial asset packs or made
by us, and all sound effects and music come from licensed sound
libraries. The in-game crew voice is Steam voice chat between real
players, not synthesized speech.
No AI content is generated while you play.
I (Sean) use AI coding assistants: GitHub Copilot and Claude Code. I've written software for years and I teach games programming at university, and I use AI tools the way I use a profiler or a compiler. They helped build web tools Dave and I use to balance the ecosystem across long simulations, they're very good at finding edge-case bugs (I'm looking at you, pathing system), and they write the boilerplate for things like save states and UI. I never ship code I haven't read and thoroughly tested.
No content in this game is AI-generated, and no generative AI runs while you play.
Every sound, art and music asset in this game was made by a human. The game started out as the idea of “Asset Safari” around the concept of buying sprite packs from artists, which is what we have done. The music, sound and writing is also all human generated.
The developer first created a visual guide for the character NULL. Based on that guide, Meshy AI was used to create one pre-generated 3D character model. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay. All other game content, music, audiovisual works, film, website, and Unreal Engine and Wwise systems were created by the developer.
AI-assisted tools were used to help create some splash screen visuals and store page promotional artwork. All assets were reviewed and finalized by the developer before being included in the game and store materials.
Some of the game's 2D art, character voice acting, and localization content utilized generative AI assistance during production. All related content was generated and manually reviewed before release; no generative AI-generated content will be used during gameplay.
Neon Bastion uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork and some written game/interface text. All content was reviewed and integrated by the developer. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Store marketing images (Steam capsule art — header, main, small, and vertical capsules) were created with AI image generation tools and then edited/reviewed by the development team. In-game screenshots and gameplay footage represent the actual game.
I am a solo developer trying to get my dream games built. I use some AI tools to help me with this. I try to be thoughtful, careful and do whatever my skills allow.
This game uses AI-assisted tools during development to create and refine some of its visual and audio assets. AI is not used to generate content while the game is running. All assets are reviewed and polished by our team before they appear in the game, ensuring a consistent and family-friendly experience.
Generative artificial intelligence tools were used during development to help create certain visual elements (sprites) and to assist with generating portions of code. No content is generated in real time during gameplay.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with drafting and refining some localization text and selected promotional artwork. All AI-assisted material is pre-generated, reviewed, and edited by the developer before inclusion. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Some assets in Keepwatch were created with the assistance of generative AI
tools. This includes portions of the icon set, UI elements, a number of sound
effects, and some character animations.
All AI-assisted output is reviewed, edited and integrated by hand to match the
game's hand-painted art direction, and none of it ships in the state it was
generated in.
Game code, systems design, economy balance and all written content are
authored entirely by hand.
Keepwatch does not use any AI systems at runtime. Nothing is generated on the
player's machine while the game is running.
AI is used to generate concept art, 3D models, audio, and Steam store images. Models are manually refined and hand-textured. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Parts of this game's art, music and translations were created with AI tools during development and edited by hand. They ship as fixed assets — nothing is generated by AI while you play.
This game is currently in pre-alpha, and its visual assets are still evolving.
Generative AI has been used as part of the asset creation process to help achieve more detailed and varied visuals than a purely simplistic low-poly approach. AI-generated elements are extensively iterated, customized, and integrated specifically for this game under direct developer oversight.
The current assets should not be considered final. As development progresses, we plan to replace and improve them with better versions as the game's visual direction and production evolve.
AI tools were used during development to assist with parts of the workflow, including code, materials, graphics, and other production tasks. All generated content was reviewed, adjusted, integrated, and refined as part of the game’s development process.
Ai-assisted tools were used during development for programming support. Some visuals and audio were created through developer-directed, deterministic code and exported as fixed assets—not generated by image, video, or audio models. Screenshots and trailers show actual gameplay footage.
We used AI as a “support tool” in the creation of in-store visuals and certain in-game UI elements. We use AI solely as a support tool. We never leave the entire process to AI for any task.
