Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some of the visual assets in this game including character key art, promotional images, and certain 3D art were created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer. No generative AI is used at runtime; nothing is generated live while you play. All gameplay, code, and design are hand-crafted by a developer.
All primary artwork in this game, including the main character and every enemy, was created by hand either drawn by the developer or by human artists. AI assistance was limited to a few secondary visual effects (light effects, explosions, blood/spray), produced with custom procedural drawing scripts written with the help of an AI coding assistant and then hand-edited and curated by the developer. Some in-game text translations may be pre-generated with AI-assisted localization and reviewed by the developer. No image, audio, or video generation models were used. No AI is used at runtime.
Some of the artwork in this game was created with the assistance of generative AI tools as part of our development process. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and finalized by our human artists before being included in the game.
This whole game exists because I wondered whether, with these tools, I could actually make one.
Generative AI tools were used to create assets that ship with the game. The 3D ship and enemy models were generated with Meshy AI from my own 2D concept art, and AI tools assisted with in-game text, audio, and parts of the store page and marketing materials.
The design, code and balance are mine — the wave generation, the ship and weapon tuning, the modification link-set system, the campaign structure. Seventeen worlds' worth of hand-tuned numbers.
I'm a solo developer with a full-time job and three kids. The answer to the question turned out to be yes, and this is it.
The cinematic artworks were created using AI and are based on my own concept sketches. They were used to reinforce the emotional atmosphere and my vision of the game world, while the game itself is designed entirely in hand-drawn pixel art.
AI was used for programming
Generative AI was used to create some base assets, which were subsequently heavily edited by hand. All final assets included in the game have undergone substantial manual editing.
I used generative AI tools to help create some of the game's art — including certain UI elements (buttons and icons), backgrounds, story illustrations, and marketing images — which I then edited and finished by hand in Photoshop.
Some of the game's 2D and 3D art assets — including 3D character models and environment props, background and biome art, and iconography — were produced with AI image/model generation tools during development, then hand-curated, edited, and processed into the game. No AI runs at play time; nothing is generated on the player's machine or via an external service.
This game features background music generated with AI, used under a commercial license. Some of the supported-language translations were produced with AI assistance. All visual art and game code are hand-authored.
Elemancer is a solo-developed game. Every system, all gameplay code, the balance, and all writing are human-made and hand-tuned. The 2D art and audio were created with AI tools, then hand-curated, edited, and quality-checked asset by asset before shipping.
Generative AI was used during development to assist in creating certain visual assets, initial 3D model concepts, and the composition of some melodies. All AI-generated content was manually reviewed, edited, refined, and integrated into the game by the developer. All gameplay systems, programming, balancing and game design were created manually. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
Most of the 2D art in Abys Orbit is AI-assisted, generated with Google Gemini
during development. Ship and NPC sprite sheets begin as Gemini concept images,
are converted to 3D meshes with Meshy.ai, and are then rendered to 2D sprites
in Blender. One dashboard background is a NASA public-domain photograph revised
with AI. All AI-generated assets are reviewed and edited by us before shipping.
The following content is NOT AI-generated: rank insignia (drawn by hand in
Adobe Illustrator), the Scout ship model (a commercially licensed 3D asset
rendered in 3ds Max), UI and research icons (licensed from CraftPix under their
commercial license), two NASA public-domain images, and all audio, which we
produced ourselves.
No AI-generated content is created at runtime; all generation happens during
development.
This game uses AI-assisted translation for the Steam store page and some in-game UI text. As a solo indie developer with limited resources, AI translation helps make the game accessible to more players and support a wider range of languages.
Some of this game's art assets (character, enemy, boss, and environment artwork) and
its music were produced with the assistance of generative AI tools. All AI-assisted
material was curated, edited, composited, and integrated into the game by hand by the
developer. No AI-generated content is created live during gameplay.
Some 2D art assets in this game (such as item and relic icons) were created with the assistance of generative AI image tools. All AI-assisted assets are reviewed and edited by the developer before being included in the game. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Some 2D artwork, including character, enemy, map, user-interface, icon, and visual-effect source images, was created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development. Every shipped asset is selected, edited, integrated, and reviewed by the development team for visual consistency, gameplay readability, and rights compliance. The game does not generate content with AI while it is running and does not send player prompts to an AI service.
Portions of the game's written content (interface text, in-game help, Russian/English localization) and store page texts were created with the assistance of AI tools, directed, reviewed and edited by the developer. All graphics are hand-coded procedural visuals and all audio is procedurally synthesized in code — no AI-generated images or audio are included.
Johnny Jagung uses generative AI across much of its content. The visual art (character, enemy, boss, and UI artwork), music, sound effects, in-game text, and Indonesian translation were all created with the help of generative AI tools, then reviewed, curated, and assembled into the game by the developer — for instance, character art is hand-edited, composited, and animated from generated source images. All AI-generated content is created during development; the game does not generate anything live while you play.
Generative AI was used during the early development phase to create placeholders, concept art base layers, and certain visual assets/sprites. As a solo developer working alongside a demanding full-time job, this technology served as a vital tool to help bring the project's vision to life within limited hours. All AI-generated art has been manually edited, stylized, and integrated by the developer to fit the game's pixel art aesthetic.
Note on Future Development: The developer is fully committed to replacing 100% of the AI-generated visual content with handcrafted, original artwork by the time of the full 1.0 release.
Some of the game's visual assets — both 2D and 3D — are built from AI-generated drafts that our artists rework and refine by hand into their final form. Localization was drafted with AI tools and edited by the team. The final look, content, and quality of every element of the game are defined and approved by humans.
Gemfire Survival was developed with assistance from generative AI tools (such as Large Language Models) to help write and structure the source code and draft store descriptions. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated manually. The game does not feature live, runtime generative AI or external API connections during gameplay.
Pre-generated AI content:
Some of the game's 2D illustrations — world and game-mode cover art, story-scene illustrations, character portraits, and store/promotional images — were created with the assistance of generative AI image tools. Every image was prompted, curated, selected and edited by the developer.
Portions of the game's source code were written with the assistance of an AI coding tool, always under direct human direction, review and testing.
Gameplay sprites, user interface, and fonts come from licensed third-party asset packs or were made by hand.
The game does NOT generate any content with AI at runtime: all content is fixed at development time, and no player data is sent to any AI service.
Generative tools were used during development to assist with certain aspects of the games rendering systems; all such content was curated, reviewed, and integrated by the development team.
AI was used to assist in creating 3d models and game audio files.
All core gameplay systems, code architecture, game design, and user interfaces were assembled and structured manually by the developer.
Some of this game's visual assets (character art, icons, and UI) were created with the help of generative AI tools and were manually edited and reviewed by the developer.
Generative tools were used to create and refine selected 2D illustrations, music, sound effects, localization, and store text. All materials were reviewed and edited by the developer. The game does not generate content using AI or connect to generative AI services during gameplay.
Some fixed music tracks and selected pre-rendered promotional and manual artwork were created with generative AI tools. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used during the development process to assist in creating and refining some visual assets. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and curated by the developer before being included in the game or its promotional materials.
Some of this game's artwork — including key art, the main-menu background, and store/marketing images — was created with the help of generative AI (Midjourney) and then curated and edited by the developer.
Everything else, including gameplay, code, sound, and the in-game pixel art, is human-made or from licensed asset packs. No AI-generated content is produced live while you play.
Some in-game text translations were produced with AI assistance and reviewed for accuracy.
Currently, the game uses around 10% conceptual/placeholder AI-generated textures. All of these placeholders will be completely replaced prior to the 1.0 full release.
The following are temporary AI placeholder textures:
- Most UI buttons
- Vehicle textures
- The home screen
- The mouse cursor
- Most of the shop scene
- All bridges
The following are NOT AI textures (100% custom-made):
- All enemy models and textures (minus the boss "evil reforged bot mk9001")
- All item icons and textures
- All levels (except for the underground bunker and frozen ridge, which temporarily share the home screen texture)
Since the game is still in active development, generative AI tools were used to create most of the artwork and text included in the game and on the store page. All generated content was carefully reviewed, heavily edited, and integrated by the developers.
Some art assets (sprites, icons, illustrations) and audio (sound effects, music, voices) were created using generative AI tools. All AI-generated content is pre-rendered and hand-integrated into the game — nothing is generated live during play. Each asset is reviewed and curated before inclusion, and we hold commercial-use rights for the tools involved.
Some of this game's code was written with the assistance of AI development tools. All art, music, audio, and text that ship in the game are human-created (from licensed asset packs) or procedurally rendered — no AI-generated art, audio, or text is included in the game.
