Public Steam disclosure research 25,383 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
The game used generative AI to assist with the creation of some of the content, such as art assets, sound, music, etc.
AI-assisted tools were used to help with some in-game translations.
Some visual assets used on this Steam page were edited or retouched using AI-assisted tools, and the achievement icons were created using generative AI / AI-assisted tools.
The life events for every historical figure highlighted in the game were generated by giving AI access to their Wikipedia profiles and asking it to summarize the text content. The art and the code are entirely human.
As a small indie studio, we use generative AI tools to assist in parts of our art creation process. This helps us improve the quality and consistency of artwork while allowing our team to work more efficiently. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, refined, and integrated by our developers to ensure it meets the artistic vision and quality standards of the game.
During the development of this game, generative AI is used as a supporting tool for parts of the Japanese / English translation drafts. Final wording is reviewed and adjusted internally before being adopted.
This game uses generative AI for the following elements during development: Visual assets (character, tile, and effect images, title screen artwork, and Steam store assets): Nano Banana Pro (Google Gemini 3 Pro Image) and Qwen Image Edit Map structure and in-game text in general (proper nouns, messages, etc.): Anthropic Claude All generated assets are reviewed by the developer before use, with care taken to avoid intentional reproduction or imitation of third-party copyrighted works.
Some game and store page text or visual assets were created or refined with generative AI during development. This content is pre-generated and included in the shipped game or store materials. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services during gameplay.
During the development of Days Of Reckoning, generative artificial intelligence is used as a supportive tool in certain parts of production. AI has been used primarily for: creating visual references and concept ideas assisting with marketing materials (e.g., text, scripts) experimenting with certain audio or atmospheric elements All content included in the final version of the game is reviewed, refined, and approved by the developer. Generative AI is not used to generate content in real time during gameplay and does not directly influence gameplay mechanics or in-game systems.
WW2 historical photos colorized by AI
AI tools were used to generate some images (mostly cards), which were then edited by hand before being included in the game or its marketing.
Dungeons of Desolation Remastered is based on my original 2012 Xbox Live Indie Games release. The original artwork, music, sound effects, code, game design, story, systems, and overall creative direction were created by me as an individual developer. For this remastered PC version, I have used generative AI tools as part of the development process to assist with asset upscaling/enhancement and with porting/refactoring the original XNA codebase to a modern MonoGame version. AI-assisted work is reviewed, edited, and integrated by me. Generative AI is not used to dynamically generate gameplay, story, dialogue, items, levels, or player-facing content at runtime.
Some visual assets and parts of the development workflow for Forest of Numbers were created with the assistance of generative artificial intelligence tools. All content was curated, reviewed, and refined by the developer before being included in the final game.
Generative AI was used to assist in the creation of the game's soundtrack and audio assets. All AI-generated content has been reviewed and edited to ensure it meets quality standards and does not infringe on existing copyrights.
Generative AI was used to assist with parts of development (including some code drafting) and store page writing. All content was reviewed and finalized by the developer, and no AI-generated runtime content is included.
I used AI to help with marketing materials.
Since I’m mostly developing this game on my own, I couldn’t have done it without a little help from AI. Portraits, some sound effects, and UI elements were refined or generated using AI. Still, most of the game is old-school manual work! I ran around with a microphone recording individual sounds, wrote entire music tracks, modeled and textured objects, and of course designed levels and much more, all with my own hands using the full range of available NO-AI classic tools. Over time, I’ve been removing more and more AI-generated content with the help of some talented friends.
As a solo developer, I used AI tools to help assist in the creation of some visual assets for this remake, which were then refined and adapted during development. Thank you for your understanding.
Flux Tower Defense uses generative AI in the following development areas: • Store page artwork: Main, header, library, small, and vertical capsule images, library hero, library header, and page background were created using AI image generation tools with human direction, prompt iteration, and post-processing. The "FLUX TOWER DEFENSE" wordmark typography was added manually. • Achievement icons: The 20 in-game achievement icons were generated with AI image tools using hand-authored prompts and manually curated selections. • Localization: Non-English store page descriptions were translated with AI assistance and reviewed before publication. The game's runtime contains NO generative AI. All gameplay systems (towers, enemies, traps, waves, pathfinding, damage, upgrades), UI, and in-game visuals are deterministic code rendered live via HTML5 Canvas 2D. There are no pre-rendered sprites, no AI-generated game content, and no AI inference during play.
Some text content prepared in advance, including descriptions and localized text, may be created, translated, or improved with the assistance of AI-based tools.
Some 2D artwork (concept art, item icons, environmental textures) in this game was created with the assistance of generative AI tools, then reviewed and edited by our art team before inclusion in the game. All gameplay code, design, music, and sound effects were created by humans.
AI was used for texture patterns and code assistance. All content was manually verified and optimized.
The only AI that was used for this game was placeholders and for research into the Norwegian culture. Everything else was designed and produced by humans.
Some artwork and music created with AI generators.
Generative AI is used only to create cartoon-style illustrated artwork for promotional materials and the game's store page. All other assets, including in-game art, models, design elements, and content, were created directly by the developers.
AI tools were used for localization (translation and text adjustments) in this game.
All graphical assets are AI-generated.
The game optionally connects to a local language model server (Ollama or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) to generate live dialogue from rulers, travelers, and city locals. This requires installing Ollama separately and running a model locally. Instructions are in GUIDE.md. The game is fully playable without this feature.
For the development of Silver Snake, generative AI was used to create static visual assets and the game's musical soundtrack. Please note that all in-game sound effects and animal behaviors are procedurally generated through custom code and do not involve generative AI tools.
CARGO CRUSH ZERO is developed with the assistance of AI tools throughout its production. Game code is implemented using Claude (Anthropic) as a development assistant. Background music is generated with AIVA. Visual assets are created using AI image generation tools and further edited by the developer. All creative direction, design decisions, and final output are overseen by the developer.
Music and Sounds are mostly generated.
Parts of the game's music were created with the help of generative AI.
All narrative, lore, and in-game text were written entirely by our team. Music and sound design are produced by our talented sound designer. Character concepts and initial illustrations/visual designs are human created. AI tools were used to assist in the modeling pipeline, with all output reviewed, adjusted, and approved by the team. We are actively working towards bringing on a 3D artist as the project grows (reach out to us if this might be you).
This game was developed with AI collaboration. Visual assets including unit sprites, tile textures, and promotional artwork were created with the assistance of generative AI. Game code was developed with AI pair programming. All AI-generated content was reviewed, curated, and refined by the developer. No AI content is produced dynamically during gameplay — all assets and code are pre-made and shipped with the game.
Sound, Localization
This game made auxiliary use of pre-generated AI tools during solo development to improve efficiency in areas such as programming code scripts, game system data structure design, draft text writing, and the creation of certain UI icons (such as trait nodes). All AI-assisted content in the game—including code, graphic assets, and text—was thoroughly reviewed, revised, and reworked by the developer to align with the game's intended direction. This game does not include live-generated AI content that is created through real-time interaction with players.
This game uses generative AI to create various pre-rendered 2D visual assets, such as user interface elements, backgrounds, and item icons. Some pre-rendered audio and sound effects were also generated using AI tools. There is no live-generation of AI content while playing the game.
I used AI-assisted tools to help create and animate characters, manually refining and adapting them to fit the game's art style. All other content, including world-building, UI, SFX, VFX, was either licensed from professional artists or created traditionally.
Some visual assets and marketing materials for this game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All AI-generated content has been carefully reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure a consistent visual style and high-quality presentation. No AI is used to generate content during gameplay.
A large part of the art in War of the Damned has been generated using Artificial Intelligence.
The game has some sound effects and songs made by AI
Visual Content: Generative AI was used to create the base visual concepts and illustrations for the puzzles. These images were then manually edited and refined to ensure they fit the historical context and game style. Programming: AI tools were used to assist in code optimization and the implementation of localization systems. Marketing: AI assisted in creating graphic assets for the Steam Store page (e.g., store banners). All AI-assisted content has been carefully reviewed and manually post-processed to ensure quality and compliance with copyright standards.
Some of the character portraits, background images, and item images in this game were generated using niji・journey and Canva AI, and were later refined and edited by an artist.
This game uses AI-assisted tools in the following areas of development: Localization: Some translations were assisted or reviewed using AI language tools. Sound Effects: Some SFX were generated or prototyped using AI audio tools. No in-game visuals are using AI except the main menu art as of now. Promotional materials may still have AI generated content. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, curated, and approved by the development team. No AI content is generated at runtime.
AI has been used for coding, game assets, music, promotional art, etc...
BROKEN SOUL : Boss Rush is a solo-developed game, and generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation of some visual assets and promotional materials. However, the game’s ideas, combat design, and system logic were all personally conceived and implemented, and every piece of content that appears in the final game was also directly selected, edited, and reviewed before completion. This is not a game that was made easily, but rather one that was brought to completion by making full use of every available tool and resource. If the game receives greater support in the future, there are plans to further expand and improve various elements, including the art assets, to an even higher level of quality. The game does not include any functionality that generates content with generative AI in real time during gameplay.
The following in-game localizations are created with the assistance of generative artificial intelligence: - Japanese - Korean
This game uses AI-generated images for character portraits, standing illustrations, and some backgrounds. All generated assets have been revised and refined, and do not infringe on any existing copyrights or rights.
