AI Usage Disclosure

The opponent in Altus Chess is powered by a proprietary move generation engine, built from custom algorithms rather than generative AI or pretrained machine learning models. The engine thinks and plans by exploring candidate moves through its own deterministic search and evaluation system — this algorithmic core is the foundation of every decision the opponent makes. Layered on top is a memory subsystem that records observations from prior turns and prior games; this memory surfaces contextual hints back to the engine as suggestions only. The engine weighs these suggestions but does not defer to them. Final move selection always resolves through the engine's own proprietary logic, ensuring the opponent's behavior remains consistent, deterministic, and grounded in its core system rather than influenced beyond its own evaluation.
