Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Images are created with AI
In our project, AI was used to partially create art assets, helping our artists bring some ideas to life.
Generative AI has been used for concepts and early sketches of some backgrounds. No final graphical assets included in the game have been generated by AI. Some promotional images have been enhanced using AI. Some music tracks have been created with the help of AI.
The game uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork created before release. It does not generate images, text, audio, or other content during runtime and does not connect to any external AI service.
AI tools used only as composition reference during early blocking; all shipped assets hand-painted by artist.
Artwork, Music, Voice Acting, Environment
Generative AI tools were used during the development process to assist with code optimization, text proofreading, and language localization (translation). All final in-game content and translations were manually reviewed and curated by the developer. No AI-generated content is generated live during gameplay.
During the development of this game, AI tools were used solely as a coding assistance aid — primarily to help identify and fix minor bugs, and to assist with small code corrections and improvements. AI was not used to generate any content experienced by the player, including visual assets, audio, narrative or in-game text. All artwork, sound, and written content presented to the player are original and human-created. The AI usage disclosed here is limited to development-side coding assistance and does not appear as generated content within the final player-facing experience.
The game includes AI-generated virtual price data and images.
The creative direction of GAZE IN SHADOWS was developed and controlled entirely by our team, including its 1928 setting, story, characters, case design, gameplay, and film noir-inspired visual style. Generative AI was used only as a supporting tool for early art exploration, asset refinement, and limited programming assistance. All AI-assisted content was manually reviewed, extensively revised, and finalized by our developers. AI was not involved in any core creative decisions.
The core gameplay, rules, progression structure, level objectives, and detailed level designs were created, reviewed, and finalized by the human development team. Generative AI was used only as a development aid for research and reference gathering, code assistance, and the initial creation of visual assets and in-game scene images. All AI-assisted content was manually selected, edited, integrated, and reviewed before being included in the game.
Some of the store marketing images were created with AI assistance.
AI was used to create some visual assets and makes up less than 1% of the entire game.
Precinct 2099 uses generative AI as a production tool. Part of the visual material (backgrounds, character art and store images) and the music were created with AI tools and then selected, edited and art-directed by hand by our team. Some of the localisation work is AI-assisted. The story, script, characters and game design are written by humans. The game does not generate any content live while you play: everything ships pre-generated with the build.
The use of AI in the game is temporary: logo, cover art, icons, music... Everything is being developed with professionals without the use of AI.
Some visual assets in the game (character portraits, photographs and website imagery) were created with the assistance of AI image generation tools, then curated and edited by the developer. Portions of the game's code were written with AI coding assistance. All narrative, game design, voice acting and story content were created by humans. The game does not generate any content at runtime using AI.
Including AI-generated content
I received assistance from text-generative AI (LLM) for the English translation (localization) of all in-game text (dialogues, UI, system messages) and for writing the English description on the Steam store page.
AI was primarily used to assist in the creation of the game's music and sound effects. Most of the music tracks and sound effects were generated using AI tools and then edited and adapted for use in the game. All visual assets, characters, environments, puzzles, story, and gameplay mechanics were created and designed manually by the developer.
all the pictures are generated by artificial intelligence.
all the pictures are generated by artificial intelligence.
The character portraits and 3D models, and three UI images, were made with the help of AI tools.
Some of the content in Broken Pixel was created using generative AI. All of it was produced during development, reviewed by us, and shipped as fixed, pre-generated assets — no AI runs while you play. - Story narration: the roughly ten hours of spoken narration were generated with an AI text-to-speech model (ElevenLabs). The scripts were written with AI assistance and edited by hand. - Player avatars: the 3D character avatars were generated with an AI image-to-3D tool (Meshy). - Store & marketing art: the capsule and marketing images were generated with an AI image model (Runware / fal.ai). - Soundtrack: the lounge soundtrack was generated with an AI music model (Mureka). The gameplay itself contains no AI-generated content — every room, screen, painting and level layout is built by traditional procedural code. Nothing is generated live, and the game never connects to an AI service while you play.
Some of the pictures used in this game we're created with the assistance of A.I.
This game uses generative AI to create part of its content: - Art and sprites: generated with AI tools and manually edited in Photoshop. - Intro cinematic: generated with Google Veo 3 and Flow, then edited. - Some sound effects: generated or processed with AI tools, combined with recorded and licensed library sounds. - Code assistance: parts of development were assisted by language models (Claude). All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and approved by the developer. The game does NOT use AI at runtime: all content is pre-rendered.
Character portraits, scene art, and voice performances were generated with licensed AI tools (PixelLab, ElevenLabs) under paid subscriptions, then curated, edited, and directed by hand. The soundtrack is built on the developer's original compositions, produced and arranged with Suno under a paid subscription. All game design, writing, and code are human-made. No AI generation occurs at runtime.
Parts of this game's artwork and audio were created with the help of generative AI tools and then selected, edited and assembled by hand. This covers the comic panels, the character portraits, the store and library artwork, and the music and sound effects. No content is generated while the game is running.
FIRST LINE was designed and directed by its human developer: the gameplay systems, the mechanics, the narrative and every creative decision. The game's code — including the systems that render all visuals and synthesize all audio at runtime — was written with an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) under that direction. The English localization was also produced with AI assistance. No pre-generated AI images, audio, or video assets are included in the game. Parts of the store page text were also written with AI assistance. Store artwork (capsules and icons) is likewise rendered by AI-written code under human direction.
AI was used to generate initial drafts for some images and illustrations. All resulting assets are used only after review and revision by the developer.
This game uses AI-assisted tools for selected art assets and animated content during development. All AI-assisted content has been reviewed and modified by the development team. The story, dialogue, and written content are fully created by the team, and the game does not include real-time AI interaction.
I asked to AI review my code and do some fixes, because 6000 code lines in C++ is kinda easy to lose yourself.
Some of the code was written with the assistance of Codex.
This game uses AI tools in the following ways: Music: Composed using Suno. Code: Written and debugged with AI assistance. Art: Created with AI assistance. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer.
Generative AI was used for brainstorming concepts and ideas during the design process, as well as for creating a few 2D visual assets and posters within the game environment.
This is a text-based game; the illustrative background images were created using a combination of AI technology and Photoshop, the character sprites were hand-drawn and colored using AI, and the music was composed and produced using AI tools.
Used AI to generate art related resources
Some art is AI and all of the localization.
Graphics generated by AI.
The images in this game were generated using artificial intelligence.
Used AI to generate concept ideas and take care of tedious tasks to speed up preproduction. All assets, including store images and thumbnails, are NOT AI generated. Images provided to us by Patron supporters may or may not have been created using artificial intelligence.
One promotional artwork seen on the store page has been created with the help of AI tools. We are actively working on replacing it within the coming days.
To create realistic interrogation scenarios in this detective game, this game packages a local, offline LLM to serve as the brain of the NPC suspects. This allows the user to lead the investigation however they like. Generative AI was NOT used to create this game, but an LLM is featured as a main game mechanic in the form of freeform NPC conversation.
This game uses generative AI in limited, non-gameplay-critical areas: - AI-assisted code refactoring and performance optimization during development - AI-assisted translation polishing for multi-language support - UI layout refinement suggested by AI tools during the design process All core gameplay logic, the unique drawing-and-deduction design, and all original game artwork were created, reviewed and refined by human developers.
Character portraits and evidence images were created with OpenAI's image generation; some diagrams were authored as SVG with OpenAI Codex. These assets were reviewed before release (originality and likeness pass). Sound effects and the ambient music bed are produced by a deterministic synthesis program (oscillators, filtered noise, and math-based DSP), not by a generative-AI audio model, and from no sampled or library audio; the synthesis script itself was written with AI coding assistance (AI-assisted code, not AI-generated audio). Fonts, engine, and runtime are non-AI third-party components under their own licenses.
Some in-game radio/music tracks may be created with generative AI tools. These tracks are selected, reviewed and integrated manually by the development team. No live AI generation is used during gameplay.
Generative AI was used as a production tool to help create selected visual and audio assets and to assist with refining some written content. The game’s concept, narrative direction, scenes, mechanics, and final presentation were defined, directed, reviewed, and edited by the developer. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.
No Witnesses is developed by a two-man team, therefore generative AI has been used to assist in the creation of marketing assets and other player facing interfaces. All generated content is reviewed and perfected by a human before use.No Witnesses utilises third-party assets, of which we cannot attest to the creation of.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation of selected promotional and store artwork. During gameplay, players can also optionally use generative AI to create custom word sets and hints.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the game's custom C# code, gameplay systems, UI structure and layout, in-game written content, official word list, localization in nine languages, and draft store-page copy. All AI-assisted outputs were reviewed, edited, tested, and integrated by the developer. Visual art, icons, fonts, music, and sound effects are separately licensed third-party assets. No generative AI is used during gameplay, and the game does not connect to external AI services.
The AI model has been fine-tuned with multiple safety measures — including prompt restrictions, keyword filtering, and compliance safeguards — to ensure all generated content remains appropriate. If you encounter any inappropriate or non-compliant content during gameplay, please report it to our support team, and we will promptly review and make the necessary adjustments.
