In general, the developer uses AI to create like a cubes; ultimately, they decide where to place each cube to build a castle—or, in this case, the video game itself.
Some 3D models and pictures in the game were created with generative AI tools. Store promotional images were generated with AI and then manually edited.
Some pre-generated visual assets currently used in Forms of War and its store materials were created with generative AI tools. Most in-game visuals are drawn procedurally in code using Phaser. AI-assisted coding tools were used during development. No generative AI is used while the game is running.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation and iteration of some pre-generated 2D visual assets, UI elements, and promotional materials. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and curated by the developer. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay.
Necromancer: The Fallen Serve is primarily developed by me as a solo indie developer. I use generative AI as one of the tools in the project, including for some 3D assets, character voice lines, music, and promotional artwork. I've also worked with freelance artists and animators on parts of the game, including the skeleton army and animation work. I personally go through, refine and rework the assets until they fit the game the way I want them to. No generative AI content is created during gameplay.
Sirius speaks using pre-rendered audio clips. Every line of dialogue was written by hand; an open-weight text-to-speech model (Kokoro-82M, Apache 2.0) was used during development to record those written lines as audio, in the same way a voice actor would. No dialogue, text or imagery is generated by AI — the model performs a fixed script of authored lines, and the resulting audio files ship with the product. Nothing is generated while the software is running.
Some of this game's assets were made with the assistance of generative AI tools and were reviewed, curated and hand-finished by the developer. No content is generated while you play.
During development, we may use procedural and AI-assisted tools to support content creation. The final product reflects the creative direction, authorship, and expression of the development team.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation and refinement of some visual assets, text, localization, and other pre-generated game content. All AI-assisted content included in the game has been reviewed and validated by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
The ship and part artwork was generated with AI, then hand-edited and traced by me into the sprites and collision shapes the game actually uses.
Nothing generative runs while you play. There is no AI service wired into the build, and the game never calls one.
The music is licensed from real artists, and the sound effects come out of a script I wrote. Neither is AI.
I want to replace the AI art with work from real artists before Early Access ends. I am not going to promise a date for that, but it is what I am working toward.
As an individual developer, during development of this game, AI tools were heavily used. I disclose this honestly and transparently.
1. In-Game Assets
Illustrations & Art: Unit portraits and the opening cinematic illustrations were generated using AI image models, then manually curated, retouched, and unified in style. All assets were human-reviewed under strict art direction to ensure historical tone and consistency.
Opening Cinematic: Subtle motion effects on the illustrations were produced with an AI image-to-video model and assembled by using the Remotion pipeline.
Background Music: The soundtrack was generated by an AI music model in multiple takes, then human-selected, mixed, and mastered.
Telegram Voice-overs: The historical telegram voice-overs in-game were synthesized by an AI TTS system. Each character's reference voice was human-approved through listening tests before use.
2. Development Assistance
Code: Game code was written and debugged with the aid of AI coding assistants. All code was human-reviewed and validated through automated testing.
Localization: The game supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English. The English text was AI-drafted and human-proofread.
3. What Is NOT AI-Generated
Historical Text: The telegrams in-game are taken from historical archives, 34 are verbatim transcriptions of the original documents, and 12 were written based on the sources. They were not AI-generated.
Terrain & Map: The battlefield map was procedurally rendered from real elevation data (SRTM), not generated by AI.
Game Balance & Statistics: Troop strength, Unit Introduction, and values were researched and set manually from historical sources, cross-checked for accuracy and play balance.
AI was used to create the full scores from chords and melody provided to create retro feel. All art and animations were drawn meticulously character by character using a personal editor I made, but I drew inspiration from generative AI to get the right feel or angles.
Brainrot Fire uses generative AI to assist with translating in-game text and interface content into multiple languages, helping us support a wider range of players around the world.
The text used in the game and on the Steam store page has currently been translated primarily with the assistance of AI tools.
Most of the graphical assets used in the game are based on real photographs or renders of 3D objects. However, AI-generated imagery was used in cases where no suitable real-world source material was available, or where the available material was insufficient to complete or supplement the required assets.
During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.
During the development of this game, generative AI was used to assist with the creation of some art assets, sound effects, music, text translations, and development reference materials. All AI-assisted generated content was manually reviewed, edited, integrated, and approved before being included in the game. No content is generated in real time based on player input during gameplay.
All pre-rendered visual artwork was created using generative AI under developer direction. This includes environment backgrounds, interface and menu artwork, branding, icons, and promotional/title-card images.
Final Night Firefight uses generative AI tools during development to assist with the creation of some pre-generated game artwork, visual assets and music. I review, edit, and integrate all AI-assisted content as part of the game's development process. The game does not generate AI content live during gameplay.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with portions of pre-generated in-game artwork and Steam store/marketing artwork. All outputs were reviewed, cleaned, composited, color-adjusted, and quality-checked by the development team. The game does not generate AI content at runtime.
This game uses generative AI for some visual content, including icons, logos, game art, Steam store page art, and website marketing images. Some store and website descriptions were written with AI assistance. Store, website, and marketing art is made to match the actual in-game look and design.
Background graphics have been generated with AI. This might change during Early Access, as the goal is to replace all AI artwork by artwork made by real artists.
Localization into some supported languages was created with a mix of Community members and machine generation and reviewed by the developer.
The developer is actively seeking to replace any machine-generated localization over time.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation and refinement of some visual assets, including illustrations, user interface elements, and marketing materials.
Generative AI was used to assist in creating select background artwork and visual assets for the game. All assets were manually edited and refined before being integrated.
As a solo developer, I utilize AI to amplify my outputs. Although I never rely on or depend on the AI to do the work, it is a tool much like this computer that I am typing on, the creativity is still up to us to use it correctly. No content is generated during play.
All artwork, sprites, terrain, animations and audio are procedurally generated by our own deterministic tools or licensed/purchased from human-made sources. No generative AI images or audio are used. AI assistance was used for drafting and prototyping, all of which is reviewed and further iterated by a human. No AI models run while the game is played.
Generative AI has been used as a supplementary tool in the creation of some art assets and UI elements included in this game. AI has also been used to assist with some text creation and localization.
AI-generated or AI-assisted content is reviewed by the developer and edited or adjusted by hand as needed. Generative AI is used only as a tool to support the development process, while careful attention is given to the overall quality, consistency, and atmosphere of the game.
Some pre-rendered content was created with the help of generative AI tools: the music tracks, the game logo and store/marketing artwork, and the store page texts including localization. All gameplay, graphics and race simulation are deterministic and hand-coded; no content is generated by AI at runtime.
Some of the game's 2D artwork, including character, enemy and boss sprites, item icons, and backgrounds, was created using generative AI tools. All such assets were individually reviewed, selected, polished and integrated by the development team.
AI was used only as a tool to speed things up.
Voice acting was done by professionals (including me).
SFX and most VFX are assets created by artists (some placeholder AI art is included to be replaced in time) and the music tracks were composed by me and rendered with an AI assisted DAW process.
All creative ideas, all mods and QoL features of this unique puzzle game were designed and built by a human mind.
Rally Point's visuals and store art are drawn by code from the game's own geometry. No image, audio, or voice generation model was used. That code was written with AI assistance, as were the non-English translations.
As a solo developer I find use of AI to be one of my most prominent and efficient tools ever used.
I'm heavily relying on Gemini, Claude and QWEN to create my code snippets and review them. I also manually review their work from time to time.
Visual assets creation also rely on AI(NanoBanana2). Some of the assets are my sketches that has been polished to perfection by AI. Some are AI generated and hand-edited after and some, I'll be totally honest here, are fully AI generated, via meticulous prompt engineering and trial and errors.
I'm heavily opposed to using AI to create slop or mass produce clones of existing content. But I'm a firm believer that, when curated by talented individual with solid vision, it can achieve great results.
Destroy the Flag was developed with the assistance of a generative AI coding assistant (Claude, by Anthropic), used throughout development as a programming and writing collaborator.
Pre-Generated content (created during development, ships with the game):
- In-game interface text — menu labels, HUD text, on-screen instructions, and system messages — was drafted with AI assistance as part of the game's code, then reviewed and refined by the developer before shipping.
- The Steam store page's short and long descriassistance, then fact-checked, edited, and approvpublishing.
Live-Generated content: None. The game does not usnt isgenerated by AI while the game is being
played
The vast majority of assets are created by me or commercially licensed. I have used AI-generated assets for a few buildings and UI elements as a base end then modified heavily in Photoshop. I am a solo developer and know it’s a controversial topic, but I hope the 1000+ hours I have spent in Photoshop shines through, but I still want to be honest.
Some pre-rendered artwork — event illustrations, key art, and store capsule images — was created with the assistance of generative AI tools, then selected, edited, and composited by the developer. Localization drafts were produced with AI translation tools and reviewed by the developer. All in-game unit, UI, and map art uses licensed, human-made asset packs. No content is generated by AI at runtime.
Generative AI tools were used only during early-stage concept exploration and as internal visual and design references. No AI-generated artwork or other AI-generated content is included in the final game. All final in-game art assets are either created by our development team or sourced from properly licensed assets. The game does not use live-generated AI during gameplay.
