Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
This game includes AI-assisted, human-curated and edited artwork (tile art, actor sprites, and other visual assets). All AI-generated art was reviewed, edited, and approved by the developer before being included. An LLM was used to co-author most code changes. An LLM was used to proof and ideate some of the dialog in the game. All dialog was curated and approved by a human.
This game was created by a real human, using the Codex development environment. Contains lots of generated artwork and descriptive text, as well as gameplay refinements gained through AI powered balance testing.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation of some visual assets, 3D assets, and music used in the game. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer before being included in the final game.
Generative AI tools were used during development to help create visual assets for this game, including character art, environments such as the temple, weapons, and other in-game artwork, as well as store and marketing images (capsule art, logo, and store background). All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer, who holds the rights to use it. No AI-generated content is created live during gameplay.

In general, the developer uses AI to create like a cubes; ultimately, they decide where to place each cube to build a castle—or, in this case, the video game itself.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation and iteration of some pre-generated 2D visual assets, UI elements, and promotional materials. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and curated by the developer. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay.
Necromancer: The Fallen Serve is primarily developed by me as a solo indie developer. I use generative AI as one of the tools in the project, including for some 3D assets, character voice lines, music, and promotional artwork. I've also worked with freelance artists and animators on parts of the game, including the skeleton army and animation work. I personally go through, refine and rework the assets until they fit the game the way I want them to. No generative AI content is created during gameplay.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with some image assets and written or localized text for the game and its store page, as well as three in-game background music tracks. All AI-assisted content is pre-generated and fixed. The game does not generate content at runtime or send player input or data to AI services.
Some of the artwork was created using AI tools. The code was also reviewed with, or assisted by, AI.
If the concept finds its audience, we intend to pay an artist to produce artwork that is not AI-generated. Artists who would like to be part of the project are welcome to join us.
Some of this game's assets were made with the assistance of generative AI tools and were reviewed, curated and hand-finished by the developer. No content is generated while you play.
Some of this game's art and music assets were created with the help of generative AI tools during development.
Art: Character portraits, unit and enemy sprites, environment tiles, map decorations, and item icons were produced with the assistance of AI image-generation tools (including Retro Diffusion, PixelLab, and FLUX), then curated, edited, assembled, and integrated by the developer.

All AI-assisted content is pre-generated and fixed in the shipped game — no content is generated live during gameplay. Every asset was reviewed and approved by the developer to ensure it is original to this game, does not infringe third-party intellectual property, and is appropriate for the game's audience.
AI Disclosure
WinterCore is a solo-developed game created over four years. Generative AI was used during development to create a small number of visual assets and selected promotional artwork. All AI-generated assets were subsequently edited, refined, and adapted by the developer to fit WinterCore’s art direction and overall visual style.
The game’s core design, programming, story, gameplay, and final implementation were created by the developer. The project also includes licensed assets and creative works from independent artists and creators, who are credited accordingly.
Parts of this game were made with the help of generative AI tools. AI assistance was used for the source code, the in-game and store text, the store and library artwork, and the music and sound effects. Everything generated was reviewed and edited by the developer before it shipped. Nothing is generated while you play: the game ships fixed assets and makes no calls to any AI service.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create and refine visual artwork and music, and to assist with programming. All final content was directed, selected, edited and integrated by the developer. AI is not used at runtime and the game does not generate new content while you play.
Ravens of War uses generative AI to create some of the artwork and illustrations used in the game, including card artwork. This content is pre-generated and included as part of the game; the game does not generate new AI content during gameplay.
**Pre-Generated AI Content**
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist in creating some of the pre-generated content included in the game. The AI-assisted content includes images, music, written text, and translations.
All AI-assisted content was generated before release and is included in the game as fixed assets or data. The developer reviewed, selected, edited, and integrated the content before including it in the product. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
The developer reviewed the included content and only incorporated material believed to have the necessary rights for distribution. Third-party copyrighted characters, trademarks, or other protected material were not intentionally requested or included.
**Live-Generated AI Content**
The game does not use live-generated AI. It does not connect to any generative AI service or generate AI-assisted content while the game is running.
Blood Vaults was independently developed by Cryptwake Studios with limited assistance from generative AI tools. These tools were used as part of the development workflow to assist with select visual assets, content, and development materials. The game’s design, systems, mechanics, direction, and implementation are developer-created. Any AI-assisted content appearing in the final game is reviewed, modified where appropriate, and integrated by the developer.
As a solo independent developer, I used generative AI as a support tool to assist in the creation of selected promotional artwork displayed on the Steam store page. All final assets were manually selected, edited, and integrated by me. No generative AI content is created during gameplay.
AI tools were used during the creation of draft visual assets. All AI-generated material is reviewed, edited, and manually refined by professional artists before being included in the final product.
AI has been used to assist in the build process, but has absolutely not been used in thematic creative direction, game play or story direction whatsoever. Aveos is a solo developer project, and nothing has been left for AI to decide. All results have been tailored to fit the output of the vision, and it is used in lieu of a team of developers. Should those resources have been available, they would have been obviously preferred.
Crie au loup is made with AI, from the first prototype to the illustrations. That is not a manufacturing detail: it is as much the project as the game itself.
My role is not a craftsman's: I painted no card, and I did not write the code line by line. I designed the system, I direct it, I arbitrate and I verify. Deciding what makes it into the game, what gets redone, what gets cut: that is production work, and it is mine.
What is generated: the creature and location artwork, the interface, a large share of the code and the writing. What is measured rather than assumed: card balance, computed over thousands of simulated matches before every update. What is verified: the historical sources behind every legend, published one by one on the official site, where you can open them and prove me wrong.
What is never generated is your match. No image, no text and no game decision comes out of a model while you play: the engine is deterministic, and the solo opponent is a classic program applying the rules.
Crie au loup is one of the projects I run around generative AI, and the only one you can play. The making-of is documented without varnish in the devlog on the official site.
OpenAI ImageGen was used during development to generate and edit some pre-generated 2D pixel-art visual assets, including UI elements, icons, backgrounds, environment artwork, and character or animation source frames. All outputs were reviewed, selected, manually edited, cleaned up, resized, palette-normalized, and integrated by the developer as fixed game assets. The game does not use generative AI at runtime and does not generate live AI content.
Artificial intelligence has been used solely to generate certain 2D icons used in the game's menus, such as icons for weapon upgrades, artifacts, and similar elements.
AI has not been used under any circumstances to generate 3D models, user interfaces, in-game menus, weapons, enemies, environments, animations, VFX, or any other playable content or assets.
The use of AI is strictly limited to specific 2D icons of a visual and informational nature within the interface.
We use about 15 seconds of AI footage in our trailer. All assets in the game are human authored.
We also use a local, small and offline LLM (meaning: no data ever leaves your computer, and it does not cause significant performance drops) as a Director that controls: enemy spawn and frequency of challenges, essentially choosing when to press with difficulty and when to hold the challenge based on parameters such as player frustration, boredom and an emergence metric.
This mechanic does not generate any text, narrative or story: it is just a mechanic that controls game balance to ensure the best challenge. And you can turn it off on the settings menu, if you want.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create the artwork and audio used throughout the game. The generated assets were reviewed, selected, edited as needed, and incorporated into the final game by the developer.
Arcane Dash was created by a solo developer. Music, cutscene artwork, and translations were created with AI assistance. All levels, character sprites, and sound effects were hand-designed/coded by the developer, and all marketing materials were created and edited by the developer.
The visual art in Palimpsest Idle (character, enemy, weapon, equipment, icon and background art) was created during development using AI image generation tools, then curated, processed and hand-assembled by the developer. The game's two music tracks were produced during development using an AI music composition service under a licence granting full ownership of the resulting compositions. Sound effects are royalty-free library recordings and are not AI-generated. No content is generated while the game is running - all assets ship as fixed files, and the game makes no network requests during play.
All artwork, sprites, terrain, animations and audio are procedurally generated by our own deterministic tools or licensed/purchased from human-made sources. No generative AI images or audio are used. AI assistance was used for drafting and prototyping, all of which is reviewed and further iterated by a human. No AI models run while the game is played.
I cannot draw and I have no experience with graphics either, which is why I turned to AI for the images in the game: the creatures, items, zones and the class portraits. I picked, edited and placed every single one of them myself, and plenty were thrown out again before the rest fit together.
Generative AI was used during development to create or refine pre-generated visual assets, music and audio, and localization drafts included in the game and its marketing materials. All such content was reviewed and curated by the developer before release. The game does not generate AI content during play and does not send player data to external AI services.
AI generation was temporarily used for placeholder assets, sound effects, and code during early development. all of these will be replaced with custom work before the official launch. AI is not used at runtime.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create selected pre-generated content, including character and environment artwork, some user interface artwork, music, some voice-over audio, and localization. The visual assets were subsequently edited and customized by the developer. All AI-assisted content is selected, reviewed, and integrated by the developer before inclusion. The game does not generate content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
An AI-assisted tool was used to create a preliminary translation pass that was reviewed and revised by human localization professionals.
AI was not and will not be used to generate in-game art, audio, narrative, or gameplay elements.
Some of the game's 2D artwork, including character, enemy and boss sprites, item icons, and backgrounds, was created using generative AI tools. All such assets were individually reviewed, selected, polished and integrated by the development team.
ART AND AUDIO: no generative image or audio models were used. Every texture, sprite, visual effect and musical note in Mool: Chroma is generated at runtime by the game's own code. The build ships no audio files at all, and the only image files it ships are the bitmap font atlases used to draw text. The store page artwork is rendered by that same code. The code itself was written with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer.
TEXT: AI tools were used to help write text. Some in-game narrative and flavor text was drafted with AI assistance, and the game's non-English translations (Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, German, French, Spanish - Latin America, Portuguese - Brazil, Russian) were AI-generated. All of it was reviewed and edited by the developer before shipping.
Nothing is generated live during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used in the creation of certain visual art assets. All generated content was reviewed and edited by our development team before being included in the final game.
Some art, the 3D models, the music beds, the sound effects and all character voice lines were produced with generative AI tools during development, then hand-reviewed, edited and shipped as fixed assets. Nothing is generated while you play: the game ships every asset on disc, runs no model, and makes no network call.
Generative AI was used during development to assist in the creation of the game’s logo as a pre-rendered marketing asset.
No generative AI is used during gameplay, and no AI-generated content is created or shown to players while playing the game.
Some visual assets in the game were originally created and edited manually using image editing software, and were later refined with generative AI tools. AI was used only as part of the visual refinement process. Final assets were reviewed and edited by the developer before being included in the game.
