Docket 87 uses generative AI tools during production to create some fictional photographic and video evidence used in the game’s case files. These assets are pre-generated and curated by the development team. They may include fictional archive photographs, witness-related visual material, restored/degraded footage, and other visual documents designed to support the game’s true-crime investigation atmosphere. For our team, generative AI is a way to extend the scope and texture of the fictional archive without replacing human creative work. No contracted role has been removed or substituted because of its use. It allows us, as a small independent studio, to create more varied visual evidence, better support the game’s true-crime atmosphere, and offer players a richer case to investigate within the same production resources. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay, and generative AI is not used to dynamically create story, dialogue, puzzles, or player-specific material. It is also not used for music, sound effects, visual effects, or programming. All AI-assisted materials are reviewed, edited, and integrated under human creative direction.
